The process for making a HEXADECAGON or 16 sided piece of joinery
-
This piece of joinery is the feature end post to support the cantilever to the kitchen island bench
-
The brief was to make a 110mm cylindrical post
-
I used 290 x 19mm American white oak cut into 1m lengths I then cut each section 22mm wide and machined a 11.25° mitre on each side before taping and glueing it up
-
I chose to make it with 16 sections to reduce the surface area for the final process
-
Sanding the surface to a round over
