How Often Should You Test Your RCDs? ⚡
Residual Current Devices (RCDs) are your first line of defence against electric shock and electrical fires. They’re designed to trip in milliseconds if they detect a fault – but they only work if they’re tested regularly.
In WA, it’s recommended you test your RCDs every 3 months.
Simply press the “TEST” button on each device in your switchboard to make sure it trips. After testing, reset the switch to restore power.
Regular testing keeps your home or business safe, ensures compliance with WA electrical safety standards, and gives you peace of mind that your protection is working when you need it most.
