Project Vacancy – Offshore Health and Safety Officer (Back-to-Back)

We are seeking an experienced Health and Safety Officer for an offshore project in Qatar, operating on a back-to-back rotation aboard a Diving Support Vessel (DSV).

The role will commence in early February and is expected to run for approximately 70-90 days, subject to project requirements.

The successful candidate shall hold a NEBOSH qualification and demonstrate a strong working knowledge of offshore diving and ROV operations. Preference will be given to individuals with around five years’ experience, particularly those who have previously worked on DSVs in a safety role.

Key responsibilities will include providing on-board HSE and Admin support, ensuring compliance with project and vessel safety requirements, participating in toolbox talks and risk assessments, monitoring work activities, supporting incident reporting and investigation processes and other duties as requested by the OCM.

This position is suited to a safety professional who is comfortable working in a high-risk offshore environment, can engage effectively with vessel crews and project teams, and is capable of operating with a high degree of autonomy.

The DP2 Southern Nova finishes her major re-activation works this week, with all new ABS certificates reissued, before sailing for her first job. We would like to thank all our clients and partners who visited last week to tour the vessel and see firsthand our commitment in preparing her for the start of our 4yr charter.

The Southern Nova is a 82m, DPII Saturation Diving vessel with 100t AHC crane, 630m of clear steel back deck and 116m Mezzanine deck with passive roll reduction tanks. She has accommodation for 128pax, 3 client offices, and all 1,2- and 4-man cabins with internal bathroom/shower facilities.

The saturation diving system is a fully integrated 12man, ABS classed, 300m rated system, with SPHL, LSP ‘fly-away pack’, and optional HRF. The bell is control launched through an aerated moon pool with cursor. There are two Air diving stations with dedicated twin lars, dive control and DDC.

In addition, there is a fully integrated survey desk on the bridge and installed 1 x 150HP SMD Mark II Quasar 3000m rated Work class ROV, and 1 x Saab Seaeye Lynx 1500m rated inspection class ROV.
A workhorse for the region the Southern Nova is a fully fitted out ready for work light subsea construction vessel.

Safe travels to team on board the Southern Star demobilising in Singapore after another successful project in the Gulf of Thailand assisting in an FPSO change out.

The Southern Star is a 112m, DPIII Saturation Diving Vessel, with 150t AHC crane, 1000m of back deck, and installed WROVs. She is the most advanced DSV operating in the Asia Pacific region, with Voith Schnieder propulsion systems, Port and Starboard SPHLs for greater Diver Safety and more efficient operations.

With a broad beam, Roll Reduction stabilisation tanks, Automatic anti-heeling systems and Voith thruster roll compensation, she handles exceptionally well in challenging weather conditions providing a stable platform for subsea intervention work.

The Southern Star commences work on her second project of 2025 after a short layover in Singapore. Happily, the weather is good in the Gulf of Thailand just now and we hope it remains so for the remainder of the project.

The FPSO change-out scope is a break from Saturation Diving which the Southern has been doing almost continuously for the last 6 months. The work mainly involving ROV intervention using Shelf’s Quasar 21 and Quasar 31, and air diving. Both ROVs are owned and operated by Shelf Subsea.

Shelf Subsea with our newly chartered DPIII DSV ‘Oriental Dragon’ recently completed a SPM installation in the Gulf of Thailand. The project witnessed a number of milestones – the most notable being the first Dive from the Saturation Diving System of the Oriental Dragon.

The SPM installation adds to a growing number of successful projects by Shelf Subsea involving activities related to mooring systems - be it Maintenance, Repair, or new installations. This job follows from a previous project which was also a maintenance program related to a mooring system.

Safe travels to team on board the Southern Star heading back to Singapore from Songkhla Thailand after another successful project - this time supporting Beacon Offshore.

Due to a rescheduling of commitments the DPII DSV Fire Opal is available for Diving or ROV work from 1 October 2024.

Shelf Subsea and the DSV Fire Opal continue a long and successful track record of performing saturation diving and subsea work in the Southeast Asian region.

The DSV Fire Opal is a 91m, ABS classed DPII vessel with 100T AHC crane and fully integrated saturation and air diving systems. Accommodating 128 pax, with Helideck, 735m2 of deck space, and long endurance, she is the ideal vessel for subsea construction, ROV support and decommissioning activities.

The 12-man capacity saturation diving system has a 3-man bell rated to 300m and is moonpool launched. The system has an SPHL and can optionally come with a fully tested and integrated HRF.

Shelf Subsea have installed integrated survey systems, and 1 x Quasar II Work Class ROV and 1 x Inspection Class ROV onboard to have a vessel that is fully equipped and ready for work. Additional ROVs can be added as required.

The Fire Opal and her integrated Saturation Diving System is fully Classed and IMCA compliant and has passed audit by major international Oil companies in the last 12 months.

A rare opening of availability for the Oriental Dragon, a ST-246 Skipsteknisk designed, 124m DP3, Construction Support Vessel has opened up for October 2024 in APAC.

The vessel is specially designed for operations worldwide under the most challenging of environmental conditions and offers outstanding maneuverability and station-keeping.

The Oriental Dragon features 900m2 of available deck, a 250T AHC main crane, a 30T secondary crane, anti-heeling & roll systems, and accommodation for 120 pax. Air Diving systems are currently operational and WROVs can be provided.

The vessel is dual DNV and CCS classed. DnV ✠1A1 DSV (SAT, Surface), BIS, BWM(T), Clean Design, COMF (C-3, V-3), CRANE DK(+) DYNPOS(AUTRO), E0 ,ECA(Sox-A) ,HELDK(S, H) ,NAUT(AW), Recyclable, SF, and SPS.

With 45 days of endurance the Oriental Dragon is the complete Construction Support DSV.
