We’ve had steady rain for days. We have sunny week ahead, it's time to check for damp patches.

Signs of a leaking roof can sometimes take time to appear. A small leak, failed membrane, or ageing roof can quickly become a much larger repair if left too long.

Ponding, standing water on flat or low-slope roofs, is one of the most common causes of hidden water ingress. Not dramatic. Just persistent.

Incorrect drainage falls mean water sits where it shouldn’t. It stresses membranes, corrodes metal, and finds its way through seams and penetrations that would otherwise hold.

After prolonged rain, check for:

☐ Standing water on flat or low-slope sections
☐ Blocked gutters, outlets or roof valleys
☐ Lifted or corroded flashing at vents, skylights or chimneys
☐ Cracking sealant around roof penetrations
☐ Ceiling stains or damp patches indoors
☐ A musty smell in the roof space
☐ Repairs that keep coming back in the same spot

If water isn’t leaving the roof efficiently, it’s finding another way.

Leaking windows, condensation and rising energy costs are often signs of a bigger glazing issue.

The right glazing solution can help improve comfort, reduce ongoing problems and support better building performance over time.

We take a specialist approach, starting with the real cause before recommending the right path forward.

This basement garage slab wasn't flooded by a burst pipe. The water came up from below - pushed through cracks and wall-floor joint by saturated soil after days of steady rain. 💧

The rain hasn't been heavy - but it's been consistent. And consistent rain does something that a single downpour often doesn't: it fully saturates the soil around your building's foundations and basement walls.

Once that soil is saturated, it pushes back. We call that hydrostatic pressure - and it's one of the most common reasons basements leak, walls crack, and below-ground structures deteriorate over time.

Here's something worth knowing: one of the most frequent entry points for water isn't a crack in the wall - it's the joint where the floor meets the wall. We call it the cove joint or floor-to-wall joint. Under hydrostatic pressure, this junction acts like a highway for water. It's particularly vulnerable in basements where the slab was poured between existing walls, and water can get in here even when a waterproofing membrane has been applied to the outside of the wall.

If your building has a basement, carpark, undercroft, or any below-ground element, here's what to look for:

💧 Water weeping through concrete or blockwork walls
💧 Water pooling specifically where the floor meets the wall
🔍 White chalky deposits on wall surfaces - called efflorescence
🌿 Musty odours or mould growth below ground
🌿 Elevated humidity in enclosed below-grade spaces

If you're on a site that slopes toward the building, or cut into a hillside, the risk is higher - groundwater naturally concentrates at the structure if drainage hasn't been installed to redirect it.

WS Remedial Group's solutions for hydrostatic pressure include typically includes some or all:

→ High-pressure leak sealing injection for treating active leaks using patent-pending systems to protect and extend the life of your most valuable assets.
→ Positive side and reverse side waterproofing systems combined with concrete repairs to manage sustained pressure
→ Subsoil drainage improvement to redirect groundwater away from the structure

For other signs, early action makes remediation far simpler.

The right glazing does more than improve appearance.

It can help reduce water ingress, improve thermal performance, create quieter spaces, and lower long-term maintenance costs.

At WS Remedial Group, we carry out glazing assessments and compliance reviews before small issues become major building problems.

Whether it’s remedial glazing, a retrofit upgrade, or improving overall building performance, the focus is always on practical, compliant outcomes that make sense for the asset.

Our glazing capabilities include:
• Building envelope defect diagnostics
• Thermal performance assessments
• NCC 2022 Section J, AS 1288 & AS 2047 compliant glazing solutions
• Repairs, sealing, replacement and retrofit works
• Reversible secondary glazing accepted by most heritage authorities
• Upgrades designed to improve energy performance and reduce operational costs
• Colour matching

If your building is showing signs of glazing failure, water ingress, condensation, or rising energy costs, it may be time for a review.

A roof issue rarely shows itself clearly. The stain you see inside is often nowhere near the real source.

That is why specialist roofing starts with diag-nosis. From active leaks and failed mem-branes to ageing roofs and ongoing mainte-nance planning, getting clarity early can save far bigger costs later.

What looks like a simple waterproofing repair is no longer always simple.

With NCC 2025, a like-for-like fix on an existing building can now trigger design obligations, documentation requirements and registered practitioner sign-off.

For strata committees, property managers and asset owners, that means compliance needs to be considered from the beginning, not after works have started.

WS Remedial Group delivers remediation across NSW, QLD and NT with current compliance requirements built into the process from scope to sign-off.

Concrete repairs done. Now it's about making sure the tank stays protected long after we leave site.

Our specialist remedial technicians protect the repair works in this leachate tank properly. Surface prep, fit-for-purpose concrete protection installed with detailed precision. The stuff that actually matters if you want the system to last.

Most people don't notice quality remedial work once it's behind a wall, under a floor or inside a water retention tank. That's kind of the point — and we'd rather keep it that way.
