🤯 500W residential solar panels have arrived!

We can’t believe how quickly solar technology is advancing.

When GCR first started installing solar, 250W panels were common. Then came 330W panels, followed by 440W, 475W and now… 500W residential panels! ☀️⚡

This Thursday we’ll be receiving our first shipment of the brand new AIKO Neostar 3P54 500W panels into the warehouse and we’re genuinely excited about what this means for our clients.

These panels pack an incredible 500 watts into a standard residential-sized panel, making them ideal for homes where roof space is at a premium. With AIKO’s advanced ABC cell technology, improved performance in partial shading and industry-leading efficiency, they’re setting a new benchmark for residential solar.

It’s amazing to think that six years ago we were installing 330W panels, and now we’re seeing over 50% more power from a panel of similar size.

Thursday can’t come quick enough! 😍

Who remembers when a 6.6kW system needed 20 panels? Now we’re pushing the boundaries of what’s possible on Australian rooftops.

🔋 Future-Proofed Back in 2023… Battery Ready in 2026! 🔋

One of the biggest advantages of investing in a quality solar system is having the flexibility to expand as technology evolves.

A fantastic upgrade completed recently, taking this home’s solar system to the next level with the installation of a Tesla Powerwall 3 and an additional 3.8kW solar array.

The original system was installed around 6 years ago using Phono 330W panels. With technology advancing rapidly, we’ve now expanded the system using the latest PHONO 475W panels, keeping everything within the same trusted panel family while significantly increasing the system’s generation capacity. ☀️

30 April 🔋 Big milestone day

Today marks the end of the current battery rebate level before it steps down from 1 May.

It’s been a HUGE few months since July, and the push to get systems installed in time has been full on.

Massive thanks to our crew — long days, tight turnarounds and plenty of pressure. We couldn’t have done it without you 👏

For anyone still looking at batteries, just a heads up:

The ACCC has warned customers to watch out for businesses that:
⚠️ say the rebate is “ending completely”
⚠️ promise one price, then change it
⚠️ push for upfront payment to “lock in” rebates

⚡ Did your power go out in Urangan tonight?

Ergon has reported an unplanned outage affecting surrounding streets in Urangan.

Interestingly, several of our customers in the area with home battery systems have messaged to say their homes haven’t even noticed the outage — their systems automatically switched into backup mode and kept the house running.

This is exactly what battery storage is designed for:

🔋 Tesla Powerwall owners — this is interesting news

Tesla has announced that Powerwall 3 will soon work with existing Powerwall 2 systems through a future software update.

That means homeowners with a Powerwall 2 may soon be able to expand their battery storage by adding Powerwall 3 and expansion units, giving:

⚡ More battery capacity
⚡ Longer backup during outages
⚡ Even lower electricity bills

Some configurations may allow up to 4 Powerwall 2 units, plus Powerwall 3 and expansion units in the same system.

With the battery rebates currently available in Australia, it could become a popular option for people wanting to expand their existing system rather than start from scratch.

Another great project completed this week by the team at GCR Electrical Systems.

This home in Sunshine Acres has just been upgraded to a serious energy setup:

⚡ 15kW Solar System using high-efficiency Jinko panels
🔋 Sigenergy 10kW single-phase inverter
🔋 48kWh battery storage

That’s a huge amount of storage, giving the homeowners plenty of capacity to run the house and store excess solar energy for use at night or during outages.
