Here's a question we get often: "Is a bore actually good for the environment?"Short answer: Definitely, when done right.

And 'done right' is what Australind Water Boring & Civil does every time.

Here are some of the reasons why:
πŸ’§ Reduces pressure on scheme water infrastructure.
πŸ’§ Groundwater replenishes naturally through the water cycle.
πŸ’§ Eliminates need for treated drinking water on gardens.
πŸ’§ Helps maintain green landscapes without excessive scheme draw.
πŸ’§ Licensed and regulated. We work within WA DWER guidelines.

Every bore we install is done in compliance with WA's licensing requirements. We assess the local water table, ensure sustainable draw rates, and brief our clients on responsible use.

This bore had been in service for years. Thick, rust-coloured water came out the first time we inspected it. The end product was clear, fresh, and flowing strong.

That change does not happen by coincidence. It requires two vital steps that every WA bore owner needs to be aware of.

The first is acid treatment. Over time iron bacteria, mineral deposits and sediment build up inside a bore clogging the screens and choking the flow. All of that breaks down with an acid treatment that eats away the build up that no amount of pumping will move on its own.

Second is air development. As the acid works, high-pressure air is used to agitate and flush the bore to drive out the loosened material and restore the natural flow of water through the aquifer into the casing.

These two processes, working in tandem, can breathe new life into a bore that may seem beyond rescue.

For many WA homeowners a bore rehabilitation is a cost-effective alternative to drilling a new bore. Before you write off an old bore, it’s worth seeing if it can be resuscitated.

Ours did. The pictures say it all. That's the AWBC standard.

There are three major groundwater stores under the South West, and they are not all the same. The Superficial aquifer is the shallow one near the surface that is, the one most home bores tap into. Deeper down is the Leederville, hundreds of metres thick in many places. The Yarragadee is the oldest and largest . In dry years it still has good water , and is deeper still .

The essence of what a driller does is knowing which layer to attack and how deep to go. So we do our homework on the ground before we even get the rig started.

There's a line through Western Australia that most people have never thought about.
Stand on one side of this line and the groundwater under your property is shallow, predictable, and dependable.
Stand on the other side and the same bore could cost twice as much, go twice as deep and still come up dry.
That line is the Darling Range. And if you live in the South West it probably determines whether a bore on your property is a smart investment or a risky gamble.
We’ve prepared a plain-English summary explaining why the success rates on the coastal side of the scarp are so much higher and what this means for your block specifically.

Buyers in the South West know: a bore changes everything.

Whether you're planning to sell, or just want to future-proof your investment, installing a water bore is one of the highest-ROI upgrades a property owner can make in WA. Properties with operational bores typically attract:

β€’ $15,000–$40,000+ premium at sale (depending on property size and location)
β€’ Faster time-on-market, especially for acreage and lifestyle blocks
β€’ Stronger buyer appeal β€” particularly for gardeners, farmers, and families

A bore isn't just an amenity. It's an asset and one that pays for itself and then keeps paying when it's time to sell. Talk to us before your next listing. We'll help you understand what's achievable on your property.

Meet Paul, the driller your neighbours name in their reviews

If you've read our reviews, you've seen his name. Being one of our Lead Drillers he's armed with 20+ years of drilling, pumps and water treatment under his belt.

Clients love Paul because he explains things. He'll tell you the target depth, what the strata is doing down there, and exactly why he stopped where he did. No mystery, no jargon but just straight answers from someone who's drilled hundreds if not thousands of bores across the South West.

One recent customer put it simply: Paul is "very knowledgeable and the team was great." That's the standard we hold ourselves to on every job.

Thinking about a bore and want a real answer from a real expert? Message us and we're more than happy to talk it through.

Not every bore is drilled to produce water. Some are drilled to protect it.

A monitoring bore sits quietly in the ground, tracking groundwater depth, pressure, and quality over time. That data is what keeps landowners informed, developments compliant, and aquifers protected.

For projects requiring environmental approvals or ongoing DWER reporting, a monitoring bore is often not optional. It is a condition of operating responsibly on groundwater-dependent land.

At AWBC, we understand the regulatory requirements and what the data means for your project.

Here's something most people don't know: in South West WA about three-quarters of the water we use is underground, not from dams or rivers. Groundwater supplies our taps, waters our farms and keeps our gardens green. It's a quiet system doing a big job under our feet, and tapping into it responsibly is just what the water bore industry is all about. With about 40+ years of drilling experience in this region and we never take that resource for granted.

Follow us! There's plenty more to come.

What many people don't realise is that a good drilled bore with the wrong pump is like a V8 engine with a broken gearbox. It's promising but you won’t get the performance.

Selecting the right pump for your borehole depends on a number of important factors:

β†’ Bore yield – how many litres per hour the bore can reliably produce
β†’ Total head referts to the vertical distance water needs to travel, plus friction losses in the pipe
β†’ Usage – household use, irrigation, livestock or all three?
β†’ Source of power β€” mains, solar, generator?

At Australind WBC we don't just drill your bore and walk away. We size and supply pumping systems to suit the actual yield of your bore and the real needs of your property. Over-sized pumps deplete the aquifer. Under-sized pumps mean you don’t have enough water when you need it most.

Get the right system from the start. It saves you cash, headaches and service calls down the road.
