💧 Hidden leak, big impact — problem solved.

Today the crew tracked down an inground water leak that had been quietly causing issues below the surface. These types of leaks can go unnoticed for a long time, leading to water loss, ground instability, and higher bills.

After isolating the section, we exposed the damaged pipe and carried out a precision weld repair to restore its integrity. Once tested and confirmed leak-free, the area was reinstated with concrete, leaving it safe, secure, and built to last.

Galvanised pipework doesn’t just fail from the inside—external corrosion can be just as damaging.

While galvanised steel is coated for protection, that layer can break down over time when exposed to moisture, weather, or harsh environments. Once that coating is compromised, rust begins forming on the outside of the pipe, slowly eating away at the wall thickness. Left unchecked, this leads to weak points, cracking, and eventually leaks.

We recently attended a job where persistent leaks were traced back to external corrosion on galvanised pipework. Years of exposure had caused significant rusting from the outside in, and the pipe had simply deteriorated beyond repair.

We investigated a system with inconsistent flow and used CCTV to pinpoint the problem: a section of PVC pipework causing an obstruction and catching debris.

By identifying the root cause, we could deliver a targeted fix—no guesswork, no temporary solutions.

Vandalised Downpipe? No Problem.

Recently, our team attended a property where a downpipe had been severely vandalised. Apart from looking unsightly, the damaged section meant rainwater was no longer efficiently being directed into the stormwater system which can lead to water damage, erosion, and potential foundation issues if left unresolved.

Our plumbers attended site, removed the remaining damaged sections, and installed a brand-new downpipe securely fixed back to the structure. The new pipe was connected back into the existing stormwater system to ensure rainwater is properly captured and directed away from the building.

The result:
✔ Restored drainage functionality
✔ Improved appearance of the building exterior
✔ Protection against future water damage

🧼 Hand Hygiene Facility Upgrade

OBSYD has been engaged to audit and implement improvements to client handwashing hygiene practices — focusing on upgrading handwashing facilities to better support safe behaviours.

Our review assessed station locations, compliance, functionality, accessibility and maintenance standards. From there, we developed a staged plan to upgrade non-compliant basins, improve accessibility, introduce hands-free solutions where appropriate, and strengthen ongoing asset management.
