Just when we think weâve seen it all, there's this...
A would-be copper thief used an axe to chop into live wires carrying 11,000 volts of electricity this week. The stunt nearly cost this fool their life and also cut power to more than 800 homes and businesses in Slacks Creek.
You can see the hack marks from the axe on the pole and cable, as well as scorch marks from the flashover. Police are investigating, there are also concerns about the wellbeing of the offender: theyâve likely received significant burns, and theyâve been incredibly lucky to escape with their life.
For the umpteenth time, this is an extremely dangerous and stupid thing to try for such minimal reward. If anyone knows anything about this incident, or sees people being shady around poles and wires, please call police immediately.
