Last week I was fortunate enough to be invited by popular landscaper and garden designer Joel Barnett to be a guest on his podcast “The Landscaping Podcast”.

The episode 120 is now live on YouTube and Spotify so if you want to learn more about me and my story in the industry put some time aside and have a watch or listen.

This week I was lucky enough to be invited by the Huon Valley Garden Club to speak at their November monthly meeting about all things garden design.

I absolutely loved sharing my knowledge and experiences with other like minded, hardcore gardeners.

This was my first professional speaking engagement and to be honest I think I've caught the bug, as the whole experience was truly amazing.

I want to say a big thank you to all who came to listen, all of the positive feedback after the speech was very humbling, it was truly an honour.

Some fantastic drone footage of our Ranelagh project we designed and installed a little over 3 years ago.

When a project is large it is always difficult to convey its scale with regular still photographs, taking to the air is the best option for capturing a project in its entirety.

This large garden in Nicholls Rivulet was in need of form and structure. We designed this garden to incorporate a sense of wandering through the space, finding something new around every corner.

Dry stone walling has been used continuously through this garden utilising local Colebrook sandstone from Stoneworld (Tas) Pty LTD with natural edge bluestone pavers covering the floor of the circular seating area.

Huge Cypress arbours reach to the skies forming a sturdy frame for Pierre De Ronsard roses to eventually climb up. While winding Corten steel edged crushed limestone pathways meander through the space.

Custom built wicking beds from Dovetail Timbers ensure the veggies always have enough water on hand as well as being protected with netting for those pesky garden intruders.

Well it’s that time of year again and what a great day it was at the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show.

For the past two years the event has been cancelled because of Covid 19 and Genaea and I couldn’t wait to get back and have a look at the gardens on display.

There were some really interesting designs this year, our personal favourites was Robert Boyles sprawling installation which thoroughly deserved the gold medal.

Had a chat with some landscaping legends and had a thoroughly enjoyable day!

Some photos of our most recent project in Ranelagh.

I was really looking forward to transforming this unused area into a traditional Japanese courtyard.

Here we created a Gyo-style Nobedan or in other words an informal Cobblestone pathway utilising the abundance of local river stone found on the property, with accents of rectangular sawn Buckland sandstone.

Granite garden ornaments complement the space nicely with the use of the Oribe lantern and extra large Natsume water basin or chozubachi.

The planting scheme was mostly traditional with Camellia, Azalea, Pieris and mondo grass with the star or the show being a heavily trained and shaped Aleppo pine.

Here are a few photos of a little project we just completed. We installed a new deck using Ekodeck+ composite decking and paved a courtyard area. Look forward to planting this one out and bringing the space to life.

Here are some photos from our most recently completed project in Dynnyrne.

This transformation has been extensive and is almost unrecognisable from what we started with. Years and years of neglect have been reversed and we now have a beautiful, lush, modern space to be enjoyed for years to come by this lovely family.

The planting scheme for this project was influenced by the clients need for low maintenance species. There is an eclectic mix of old favourites and brand new varieties that seem to just work in this garden

The stand out has to be the 3 x Standard Bletchel Crabapple trees that will start to put on a show of Autumn splendour in the weeks to come.

Big thanks to our wonderful client who always went above and beyond to accommodate our caffeine addictions and generally made us feel at home during this strange and difficult time.
