Port Macquarie Metal Fascia & Guttering was established over 31 years ago by local identity Joel Pateman!

Joel has trained 4 local apprentices and hired local people over that time. He has worked by himself the past 8 years installing gutter & downpipes.

Whilst I have been working over the Christmas period a few things have been going through my mind! The last 6 months I have been juggling a renovation plus my guttering business plus other business interests!
My business interests have changed as I was always going to renovate houses later in life it’s been my passion for over 30 years!
I will not be installing gutters the next 6 months and will revisit returning to work at Port Macquarie Metal Fascia And Guttering June or July to see if my body wants to continue this work or not.
I am looking to add another renovation with my daughter Emma mid January which should be very exciting showing her how to renovate develope etc etc

I love this photo general life in Vietnam reminds me of a day before all the red tape and political bu****it we have now! My tradie mates they were the days! BTW I love this scaffolding I have been known to do a few dodgy scaffolding jobs over the years for myself!

Joel Pateman started this local business 30 years ago and it is still helping people address roofing concerns.

Having employed 4 apprentices and countless other casual employees Joel now focuses on just working by himself. He has stopped working for the local builders which he does miss interacting with them on worksites and now enjoys replacing guttering and downpipes on older houses around town.

Make sure your downpipes are in working order otherwise Joel can install new colorbond ones for you. You don’t want excess water entering your foundations as it can lead to white ants & other structural problems! White ants are attracted to the moisture

Today it was nice to do something for the Hastings Valley Mountain Bike Riders at Jolly Nose who have given so much to the community by providing excellent tracks in the area. So many tourists use these trails which is fantastic! It has taken quite a while to install guttering etc with the fires of late but great it’s finally installed. And yes water is now going into the tank!

What I love about this house overlooking the Ocean in Lower Hutt Wellington is the boat mounted to the front! The down pipe draining the boat is gold!
