π **TERMITES: DONβT IGNORE THE WARNING SIGNS!**
This photo, captured by one of our experienced termite specialists, shows a series of termite shelter tubes (mud tunnels) extending over a tree trunk and branch scar.
These enclosed tunnels are constructed by worker termites using a combination of soil, saliva and processed wood. They provide a protected, humid environment that helps termites travel safely while protecting them from predators and dry conditions.
π How can you tell if the termites are active?A small section of the shelter tube can be carefully opened using a twig or screwdriver. If termites are active, you may see small white or translucent worker termites quickly repairing the damaged section.
β οΈ Finding termite shelter tubes anywhere on your property should not be ignored.Termites can travel from trees, tree stumps, garden areas and surrounding structures towards your home, potentially gaining concealed access to timber and causing significant structural damage before activity becomes obvious.
If you discover termite activity or shelter tubes on your property, it's important to have a thorough termite inspection conducted by an experienced professional.
