Declan joined Benmax as an apprentice five years ago. Today he's a qualified mechanical plumber, and someone who walks back through every finished job with real pride.

"I'm proud of everything we do here. I'm proud of the fact that we can walk back through once we've done our work and say I did that. It's good. I'm happy with that."

We put him through his CIT, forklift courses, do***ng and rigging training, anything he needed for the job.

Firmus Technologies has signed an agreement to acquire Benmax Projects, Benmax Design and Benmax Fabrication.

Completion is expected between the end of August and the end of September 2026, subject to customary conditions.

George came to Benmax as a graduate engineer. Ten years later he's leading the construction engineering team, and he'll be the first to tell you management didn't come naturally.

What helped? A mentorship program that put him in the room with senior leaders, watching how they operated and picking up skills he couldn't have learned any other way.

"I don't think I've ever had to work with someone here that wasn't a good person to work with."

Ten years of complex projects across some of the country's most technically demanding builds. "There might be a scientific breakthrough working in one of those labs down the years — and I can say I installed the mechanical systems for that. That's a great amount of pride."

Alex didn't finish year 12. At 18, he was making ductwork in a workshop with no idea where it would lead.

That was more than two decades ago. Since then he's worked his way from the workshop floor to Construction Manager, having worked on some of Canberra's most recognisable buildings. He'll point them out if you drive past.

What kept him here? Good people, great leaders, and a business that gave him the room to grow on his own terms.

"Being able to have that leash, to learn and do it my way, that's always been a Benmax trait, to be able to allow people to still be themselves"

Andrew Kolber said this when Benmax was just getting started — four blokes who believed they could do things a little bit better. A belief that if you show up, do the work properly, and treat people right, the next job takes care of itself.

Forty years later, it's still the rule the whole business runs on. The projects are bigger, the team has grown, the technology has changed — but our attitude hasn't 💪

Job done at Anzac Park East 💪🏼

Another solid project working to deliver A-Grade commercial office space in Canberra, this time in the historic Anzac Parade precinct.

We teamed up again with Construction Control and Amalgamated Property Group, delivering the mechanical systems for 17,000 sqm of office space, including a 2MW all-electric chilled and heating plant, energy recovery heat pumps, single-coil AHUs, and VAV systems.

The build is targeting 5 Star Green Star and WELL ratings too, so it's not just built well, it's built smart supporting the future of green workplaces in Canberra.

Our crew was involved end-to-end from design right through to handover. Good crew, good partners, quality outcome. That's how we like it.

We helped build it in 2013. Now we're upgrading it.

Benmax Canberra has been awarded the latest mechanical services upgrade at the Australian Data Centre (ADC) facility - a project that includes three new chillers, three new cooling towers, pipe reticulation, pump installations, and upgrades to the data hall CRAC units.

It's the kind of job we love: complex, critical infrastructure, with a client who knows what we're capable of. We'll be on site from June 2026, working alongside our longstanding construction partner, Construction Control.

More news to come as it kicks off. 🔧
