What is Water Hammer? 🔧

If you’ve ever heard a loud bang or knocking sound in your pipes when you turn a tap or appliance off, that’s called water hammer.

It happens when fast-moving water suddenly stops, causing pressure to bounce through the pipes. This shock can make pipes move and create that banging noise.

Over time, water hammer can lead to:
• Loose pipe connections
• Leaks
• Damaged valves or fittings

In many cases it can be fixed by installing pressure control, water hammer arrestors, or securing pipework properly.

If you’re hearing banging pipes at home, it’s worth getting it checked before it turns into a bigger plumbing issue.
