The Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) has long been a cornerstone of energy efficiency — and its reauthorization has strong bipartisan support.

A new bill introduced in Congress marks the first step toward extending WAP through 2030. While it has not yet passed, this legislation signals strong momentum to increase funding limits and ensure contractors and households alike can continue to benefit.

BPA CEO Steve Skodak shared in the announcement:

What is an Energy Audit? An energy audit is when a licensed contractor comes to your home and checks your appliances such as refrigerator, air conditioner, furnace, hot water tank and many other eligible devices. In some cases appliances are replaced free of charge by the utility or state program that arranaged the audit. FirstEnergy Pennsylvania Customer Assistance Program.

Are you eligible for PCAP?
Must have an active residential electric account.
Must have a gross household income at or below 150% of the Federal Poverty Income Guidelines
Must provide annual verification of income and identification of all household members.
Must participate in LIHEAP and WARM, if eligible.
The person whose name is on the account must live in the home.
Program guidelines and eligibility requirements are subject to change.

Total gross household income must be at or below 150% of the Federal Poverty Income Guidelines. Use our Income Calculator, or the chart below, to find out if your gross (before tax) income is within the range of eligibility for the program.
