Blocked drains are sometimes impossible to avoid, especially in QLD where everyone loves their tropics and palms! With a lot of different methods of repairs readily available these days, the two main devices for clearing a blockage are the drain cable machine or the new improved water jetting machine, both of these devices have their pros and cons however it must be stated - these are a temporary bandaid and the correct long term repair will always be to dig up and replace or reline. One important piece of the puzzle I cannot stress enough, is a drain camera! Without one your plumber is going in blind, possibly falsely believing they have cleared the blockage instead just poked a hole through for it to back up in a week or two - but the main reason I stress that the plumber you choose utilities a drain camera is this
- If the blockage on your property is confirmed by camera within 1m of the sewer main connection, It is then the full responsibility of the local council. This means the call out, the inspection, the dig up and the repair cost are ALL passed on and you, the property owner are not out of pocket for this service!
