This picture is a good example of why we can’t quote to fix a fault as it shows the brown cable has started to burn out where it joins the connector and was causing the RCD to trip. When you consider how many joins your home must have it becomes apparent that it could take awhile, fortunately by process of elimination we usually manage to find the faults pretty quickly.

It a week of mixed feelings for the team. This photo was taken four years ago when Arden Roberts changed from an apprentice to electrician. The past 8 years we have had the pleasure of watching a young boy grow into a lovely young man. Sadly for us though this is Arden last week with APW as he has landed his dream job but we are so pleased for him and would like to wish him all the best in his future career. Don’t be a stranger mate 😉

There are a number of outages in the area today.
If you are a three phase customer and wondering why some parts or you home have power whilst other areas do not check the map as it could be because a phase is down and western power are working to restore.

7.30am UPDATE:

26 emergency response crews are out addressing more than 100 outages/hazards. Our network control centre has re-routed power to reduce the original 55,000 impacted customers down to the current 39,000.

The powerful winds caused by the storm front have thrown debris – including tree branches and a trampoline – into powerlines. If you see a fallen powerline or network damage, please to us on 131351 immediately.

A number of outages still have an ‘unknown’ restoration time as crews first address safety hazards (including investigation of causes/issues), then return to reconnect power.

As more people are staying at home during the current pandemic, we understand a power outage is not ideal right now, but please be assured our team is working to reconnect your power as quickly as possible.

New public safety campaign urges Western Australians to take potentially life-saving action by immediately reporting shocks or tingles from metal objects, such as a bathroom tap, to their electrical network operator.

The campaign is a collaboration between the State Government’s Building and Energy team and network operators Western Power and Horizon Power WA.
