🐾 Fresh Install in Canning Vale! 🌿

Today we installed our premium Aussie Natural PLUS artificial lawn in Canning Vale! 👷‍♂️✨

We adjusted the sprinkler heights and added oversized green plastic surrounds, set perfectly at the level of the lawn base. 💧 This thoughtful setup makes it super easy to flush the area for a couple of minutes after pet use. keeping everything clean and fresh with minimal effort!

A backyard made into a clean, inviting, usable space for children. Installed on a levelled and well compacted base of blue metal dust, otherwise known as cracker dust. This base type is used for areas not at risk of vehicle traffic.

Extra care was taken to remove all organic matter from the base of the Yukkas and the holes were filled with base material, then wet and compacted in thin layers to help avoid any subsidence in these two spots.

Did you know how important sand infill is for artificial lawn?

It’s not just a finishing touch, it plays a critical role in how your lawn performs over time:

✅ Weighs the lawn down to prevent movement

✅ Softens that plastic “crinkle” sound underfoot

✅ Helps support lawn fibres

✅ Supports the product’s long-term durability and warranty

Most Australian-made lawns require specific sand infill amounts, depending on the lawn type, it's part of what keeps the lawn looking natural and lasting longer.

But not all installers follow this.

We’ve seen lawns (especially in new home landscape packages) where the bare minimum of sand is used, sometimes less than half of what’s actually needed.

Some quotes might list decent sand quantities, but that doesn’t guarantee it’s actually done right on the day.

💡 If you're getting quotes, here are some good questions to ask:

👉 How much sand will be applied per m²?

👉 What is the total amount used on the job?

🧱 For reference: 1 bulka bag = 1,000kg

I personally quote and work on every install we do, and I stand by the sand quantities I write in my quote.

Yes, that means I often spend 2–3 times longer brushing in sand than others, but it’s worth it for the finish and long-term results.

Clearly defined borders between lawn and garden enhance asthetics. But importantly this type of border, is far more effective than standard aluminium or metal edging at keeping soil, mulch and w**ds from accumulating on the Artificial lawn over time.

The process may be more protracted, requiring multiple site visits but the end result is stunning!

What: Unique Concrete Kerbing as a border for Artificial Lawn.

Why:

1. It greatly enhances the look of your Artificial Lawn, by framing the lawn solidly. It increases the visual return on investment of your Artificial Lawn.

2. It is much more effective than Aluminium edging or Metal edging at blocking sand, w**ds and w**d seeds from blowing over the artificial
Lawn. Organic matter and w**d seeds will result in w**ds sprouting on top of artificial lawn.

Context:

Installing Unique Concrete Kerbing will cost significantly more than installing Metal/Aluminium edging, or Standard yellow Concrete Kerbing. But doing so will pay dividends not only for the initial finished look of the gardens but also for keeping the Artificial Lawn in better condition than would be the case for standard edging.

The installation process for Artificial Lawn and Unique Concrete Kerbing will take place over two weeks. This compares to one day for Artificial Lawn and Standard Aluminium/metal edging. For this reason, few companies will raise this as an option during an on-site quote. Although your quote will be higher for this option, it is still more profitable (and efficient) for the installer to complete an Artificial Lawn project in one day with standard edging at a lower quote price.

But because we look forward to and love seeing the finished look of these Unique Concrete Kerbing projects, we hope to book more of them. Even though it means splitting a project over three days, including a period in the middle of the project to allow the Kerbing to dry.

We also like knowing that the lawn and gardens will be easier to keep clean and w**d free because Unique Concrete Kerbing provides a more substantial barrier between gardens and lawn.
