And so it goes - a flame pillar stack against the back wall helps me get more disc bowls in as I have 50 to squeeze in this firing - it also tightens up the side stoke areas on each side so that hopefully it won’t take much stoking to build some coals in these areas.

Finished the first stage of the pack in the larger wood kiln. Recently I altered the rear section of the kiln to create these 2 tapering exit tubes - the second image shows them before packing.
The idea behind the changes was to avoid needing to raise temperature at the back of the kiln with extended sidestoking - now I hope to be able to use limited sidestoking primarily for colour rather than temperature gain.
We’ll have to wait to see whether it proves to be a good idea - my kiln design changes don’t always have improved outcomes!

Last minute run at making a series of heavy textured rim disc bowls for and .au to be fired in the W kiln.
I had only done a very small clay sketch of this form a while ago and it’s proving difficult to keep the heavy rim without it protruding into the bowl space but I’m gradually figuring it out.

Managed to wrestle this off-form foliage vase to a conclusion - it wasn’t quite right straight out of the mould and it took a bit to get the angles of the form working.
I have now modified the mould to get a bit closer to what I have in mind.

Took time out to make a new off form mould - will post what comes out of this crazy jumble of ply offcuts tomorrow.
