PSA! Do you have azaleas in part shade/sun? Hydrangeas that cop a bit of afternoon sun? Consider covering them with a sheet on these extreme days. Or if in pots, move indoors. Despite this clients best efforts taking exceptional care of her lovely azaleas. Watering daily with regular fertiliser. Friday 2 weeks ago when we got to 41 degrees with high winds, these poor azaleas just couldn’t cope. They should bounce back with a bit of love. But she is going to cover them with a sheet on Tuesday when we have similar conditions forecast.
If this has happened to you, leave the dead foliage on. It is unsightly but will prevent new, tender growth from getting burnt as it recovers. Remove dead foliage in early autumn 👍
