Heads up if you’re building or renovating in Victoria.

From 1 July 2026, the home warranty insurance threshold increases from $16,000 to $20,000. The scheme is also being renamed, from DBI (Domestic Building Insurance) to Home Warranty Insurance.

If your contract is $20,000 or more, your builder must have this insurance in place before taking a deposit or starting work.

This is a varied, front-of-house role where you’ll manage incoming calls and enquiries, greet clients, and support the administration team across a range of day-to-day tasks. It’s a great opportunity for someone eager to learn and grow in a professional environment.

What we’re looking for:

✔ Organised and able to juggle multiple tasks
✔ Clear communicator — written and verbal
✔ Friendly and professional with clients and visitors

Today marks 5 years since Kevin Downey stepped into the role of Compliance Manager at BW&A.

That timing also aligned with the introduction of our Building Notice Resolution service, which has continued to evolve into a core part of how we support clients dealing with compliance matters.

With over 14 years in compliance and extensive industry experience, Kevin brings a practical, solutions-focused approach to navigating building notices and regulatory requirements.

We’d like to take a moment to recognise one of our newest team members, Samantha Massey, who joined BW&A National just before Christmas as our receptionist.

On Friday afternoon, Samantha was called out in her role as a CFA Volunteer to assist with the bushfire at Collignan. Alongside her brigade, she worked tirelessly in the national park well after midnight, helping protect the community and the surrounding environment.

We are incredibly proud to have someone of Samantha’s character and commitment on our team. Her willingness to step up, serve others, and put in the hard yards when it matters most is truly commendable. 👏🏼

Congratulations to .au on receiving the Best School Project – Below $5 million award for the Swan Hill Specialist School Stage 2 project.

Our team supported the project by providing RBS services from NCC Review to Building Permit, Inspections, and the final OP.

A great result for everyone involved and a fantastic facility for the Swan Hill community.

We're proud to be conducting inspections for the Swan Hill District Health redevelopment, with Phillip Chun as the Registered Building Surveyor. Stage 2 of the multi-storey community health facility is progressing well—over 45 tonnes of structural steel are now in place. When complete, it will provide expanded mental health services and modern workspaces for healthcare workers.

EXPRESSION OF INTEREST – ASSISTANT BUILDING SURVEYOR

Mildura / Swan Hill Region

We’re calling for expressions of interest from individuals keen to build a career in Building Surveying.

This position is ideal for someone currently studying or who has completed a Building Surveying qualification, or someone with a trade or construction background looking for a change.

While the above is preferred, we are open to anyone with a genuine interest in this career path.

Role to include but not limited to:

- Assist with assessing building permit applications
- Attend and document site inspections
- Liaise with builders, clients and consultants
