I love that this is our kids’ normal.
They have basically lived in a house their entire lives that was either being renovated or built.
Back in 2011 we bought an old ex-commission house. Jesse was an apprentice, I was at uni and funds were tight, but we were so keen to have a home together and just made it work with what we had. We made the place liveable and ended up making some incredible memories there.
A few years later, with a newborn in tow, we decided to do it all again. This time it was an old Californian bungalow in central Shepparton. The agent genuinely thought we were mad for buying it to renovate and extend and told us we’d be better off knocking it down.
Fast forward a couple of years and, with plenty of hard work, we extended this beautiful home for our family to spend the first few years of their lives in. This house was eventually completed within a couple of days of our second born arriving! 😅
Once we finished that house, we knew we wanted more space while the kids were growing up. Then our current five acre property came up near where we both grew up and the timing just felt right. We bought it knowing that one day we hoped we’d do what we’re doing now.
The decision making process behind knocking down and rebuilding is something we’ll share soon.
Here’s some snaps of our journey! Sooo much hard work over the years, but we’ve found so much reward in it all. And I think it just shows our kids how important it is that reward comes from hard work too 🤎
