Moved house? You may be able to claim the Victorian solar rebate again.

If you’ve previously received a Solar Homes rebate and have since moved to a new home in Victoria, there’s good news: the rebate is generally linked to the property, not the person.

That means your new home may still qualify, even if you claimed a rebate at your previous address.

Eligible homeowners may be able to access:

☀️ Up to $1,400 solar panel rebate
💰 Up to $1,400 interest-free solar loan
💧 Up to $1,000 for eligible heat pump or solar hot water — or up to $1,400 for eligible locally made products
⚡ Federal STCs may also reduce the upfront cost of solar.

There are eligibility requirements, including whether the new property has previously received a Solar Homes rebate, when solar was last installed, household income and property value. From 1 July 2026, the household income cap is $150,000 per year.

So, if you’ve recently moved, don’t assume you’ve already “used up” your solar rebate.

Thinking about upgrading your heating and cooling? You could be eligible for an upfront discount.

Through the Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) program, Victorian households may be able to reduce the upfront cost of installing an approved, energy-efficient reverse-cycle air conditioner.

Depending on your existing system and what you’re replacing it with, indicative discounts can range from around $70 to as much as $5,530 for eligible upgrades.*

That could mean:

🏡 Heating and cooling from one efficient system
🔥 Less reliance on older gas or electric heating
☀️ Making better use of your rooftop solar
🌡️ Year-round comfort
💰 Lower running costs in many homes

And unlike a traditional rebate, the VEU incentive is generally applied as an upfront discount, so there’s no waiting to be reimbursed.

The important part? The discount needs to be organised before installation, and not every system or installation qualifies.

Our latest guide explains how the Victorian split system discount works, who can access it and what you could save in 2026.

Or talk to Future NRG to check what may be available for your home.

Discount figures are indicative only. Eligibility requirements apply and actual discounts vary depending on the existing appliance, new system, installation and certificate value.

Another Victorian household taking a big step towards greater energy independence.

For this Congupna property, the Future NRG team delivered a substantial solar + battery system designed around the household’s energy needs:

☀️ 20.9 kW solar system
🔋 32.24 kWh Sigenergy battery storage
⚡ 2 × Sigenergy SigenStor inverters
🌞 44 × Trina Solar 475W panels

The system is modelled to generate around 28,030 kWh of solar energy each year.

Even better, modelling estimates electricity costs could fall from around $3,880 per year to just $223 — a projected 94% reduction, representing approximately $3,657 in annual savings.*

It’s a great example of what a properly sized solar and battery solution can achieve — generating more energy on-site, storing it for when it’s needed and significantly reducing reliance on grid power.

We’re proud to help another regional Victorian household take greater control of their energy. 💚⚡

Thinking about what solar + battery could do for your property? Talk to the Future NRG team about a system designed around your energy use.

Production, bill reduction and savings figures are estimates based on system modelling. Actual results will vary.

Still heating your water the expensive way?

Did you know hot water accounts for up to 30% of your household energy use? If you're using an older electric or gas system, you could be paying more than you need to.

A heat pump hot water system works like a refrigerator in reverse—it captures warmth from the surrounding air to heat your water, using far less electricity than a conventional system.

✔️ Lower running costs
✔️ Designed to perform through Victorian winters
✔️ Eligible for generous Victorian rebates*
✔️ Even bigger savings when paired with rooftop solar

If your current hot water system is getting older, now is a great time to explore your options before it lets you down.

Read our latest blog to learn how heat pump hot water systems work, what COP means, what you could save, and which rebates you may be eligible for.

Are You Using Electricity at the Most Expensive Time of Day?

Did you know it's not just how much electricity you use that affects your bill—it's when you use it.

If you're on a time-of-use tariff, electricity costs more during peak demand periods, usually in the late afternoon and evening.

Here's how you can take control of your energy costs:

☀️ Run appliances during the day when your solar system is generating power.
🔋 Store excess solar energy in a home battery to use during expensive peak periods.
⏰ Set timers on appliances to run during solar or off-peak hours.
🏡 Pre-heat or pre-cool your home before peak electricity rates kick in.

These simple changes—known as load shifting—can help you make the most of your solar, reduce your reliance on the grid, and lower your electricity bills.

Want to know if a time-of-use tariff is right for your home? Read our latest blog or speak with the Future NRG team for personalised advice.
