We recently completed a successful Computer Room Air Conditioning (CRAC) unit replacement for a critical transport infrastructure facility in Sydney’s south.

The project involved the design, supply, installation, testing, commissioning and certification of new high‑density cooling infrastructure to support increased IT rack capacity.

The upgrade was seamlessly integrated with the existing chilled water plant and electrical systems, delivering a resilient, energy efficient and fully automated cooling solution built around N+1 design principles.

Key features of the project include:
• Supply and installation of 3 × 150 kW heat exchangers and pump units connected to existing chilled water flow and return headers
• Supply and installation of 2 cooling distribution units
• Supply and installation of 9 inrow cooling units with ATS units for N+1 power supply redundancy
• Supply and installation of 2 new Mechanical Services Switchboards
• Advanced automated controls with monitoring, alarms and leak detection
• Associated modifications to air distribution systems, fire interfaces and containment arrangements to suit the new high‑density cooling configuration
• Upgraded building management systems and enhanced power resilience
• N+1 redundancy across mechanical and electrical systems

Delivered in close collaboration with the client, the solution improves reliability, scalability and long‑term performance.

Ryan Wilks is proud to announce the successful completion of a critical chiller replacement project at one of Sydney’s busiest international travel hubs, delivered with zero disruption to daily operations.

The project involved the staged replacement of two existing chillers, ensuring continuous cooling capability throughout the works by maintaining one operational unit at all times.

In addition, the outdated Building Management System (BMS) chiller controls were fully decommissioned and upgraded to a modern, integrated solution, enhancing performance, efficiency, and long-term reliability.

Delivered on time and without operational downtime, this project highlights Ryan Wilks’ expertise in managing complex infrastructure upgrades within live operational environments.

To support ongoing performance, a comprehensive five year maintenance plan has also been implemented.

Ryan Wilks successfully completed the installation and commissioning of the G53 Emergency Generator Main Switchboard.

Our team at Ryan Wilks has delivered and installed a brand new G53 Emergency Generator Main Switchboard that now provides essential standby power to buildings G51, G52, G53 and G55.
Throughout the installation, we ensured minimal disruption to campus operations by installing temporary generators and carefully coordinating with Energex for high-voltage switching to maintain power for critical equipment and labs.

Ryan Wilks was engaged by a major telecommunications provider to deliver a significant electrical infrastructure upgrade, addressing end-of-life systems and preparing the facility for future expansion. The project focused on enhancing the site’s generator and electrical systems to improve operational reliability, efficiency, and resilience.

Two existing generators and fuel systems were decommissioned and replaced with larger, more efficient, and reliable units supported by upgraded fuel and ventilation systems. A new dedicated generator switchboard and mobile generator connection point were installed to provide greater redundancy and flexibility, while the main switchboard was expanded and upgraded to meet future power demands. The generator room was further enhanced with a new exhaust air plenum and dual supply air fans to improve cooling and performance.

Supporting the electrical works, Ryan Wilks also delivered key building upgrades including a two-hour fire-rated UPS and battery room, a new main switchboard room, and an external high-level plant deck to support new air handling units for site expansion.

All works were completed under strict site access, WHS, and environmental controls, ensuring no impact to operations and full client satisfaction. This project demonstrates Ryan Wilks’ capability in delivering complex, high-reliability electrical and generator infrastructure upgrades safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard.
