Happy Maple Monday

Today at Unryu-En Bonsai Garden, we’re celebrating the beauty and diversity of Japanese maple leaves.

From delicate shapes and vibrant colours to subtle patterns and unique details, every maple has something special to offer.

As you swipe through our carousel, we’d love to know: which style is your favourite, and why? Is it the shape of the leaves, their colour, the way they change with the seasons, or something else entirely?

What makes a Japanese maple leaf stand out to you?

Happy ! 🍃

This Ficus rubiginosa bonsai, grown over a Buddha head statue at Unryu-En Bonsai Garden, is a beautiful expression of the connection between nature, art, and time.

Recently defoliated and wired to further refine its structure, the tree continues its journey toward greater balance, movement, and character. Every branch is an opportunity to improve the silhouette while preserving the harmony between the living tree and the serene Buddha.

Bonsai is never truly finished — it’s a continuous process of refinement, patience, and vision. 🌿

The waterfall does look amazing. One of the big milestones for Richard for the garden was getting this done and seeing it in action. Thanks always to Empire Exteriors for all the work.
