Last Friday, we celebrated two outstanding Hickory team members from our Assemble Footscray project who were recognised at the 2026 Awards for Excellence.

Rachel Thien, Project Coordinator, was recognised as a finalist in the Built Emerging Leader Award category. Taking ownership of site management and supervision, Rachel has led her team through complex challenges while supporting others to step up and manage their own packages.

In just over a year at Hickory, she has coordinated more than $7.5 million in external work packages. Inspired by Melbourne’s skyline, Lottie is passionate about making a tangible contribution to the city while building strong relationships along the way.

We're incredibly proud of Rachel and Lottie and the dedication, leadership and passion they bring to our business every day. Their recognition reflects the bright future of women in construction and the positive impact they continue to make across our industry.

Four cranes. Four new names. And some very creative neighbours.

As we deliver The Avenue Coburg in partnership with , our project team has been working with Kids On The Avenue (KOTA) kindergarten to create a fun way for the children to connect with the construction happening next door.

The children were invited to name the four tower cranes they’ve watched take shape, with Raffi, Bumblebee, Rainbow Giraffe and Rock Star selected as the winning entries. The names will now feature on the crane cabins, giving the children a special connection to the project and the chance to spot their very own crane at work.

Once complete, The Avenue will deliver up to 275 new homes, new communal spaces, a public park on The Avenue, creating a new residential community in Coburg.

“It was a joy to see the children engage with the project, help name the crane and strengthen the connection between The Avenue and the local community. We'd also like to thank Development Victoria for their ongoing support and partnership in helping bring this project to life,” said Construction Manager, Dennis L. Moschoyiannis.

A simple initiative that’s created plenty of excitement and helped strengthen the connection between our project team and the community around us.

Construction is now underway on Hotel Florin, a landmark hotel development in the heart of Sydney's C*D, with the crane installed and site activity ramping up.

Delivered in partnership with , Icon Oceania and , the Kent Street project is already showcasing innovative thinking on one of the city's most constrained sites.

Hickory's proposed top-down construction methodology allows the team to work from the ground down and the structure up simultaneously, saving six weeks on program while improving logistics and supporting basement retention without ground anchors.

As work progresses, the original 1940s heritage façade, formerly the Universal Pictures headquarters, is being carefully preserved, strengthened and restored, blending Sydney’s history into the new hotel.

Hotel Florin further strengthens our growing presence in Sydney’s C*D, and highlights our ability to deliver complex projects through innovative construction solutions and collaborative partnerships.

Strong teams are built on more than technical expertise. They're built on connection, support, and looking out for one another.

As part of Hickory's Mental Health Awareness Month, we're shining a light on the importance of mental health and wellbeing across our sites.

Last Thursday we celebrated R U OK? Day, and our teams took time to connect with one another, check in on colleagues, and encourage meaningful conversations about mental health.

Supporting our people is central to how we work. Through our network of Mental Health First Aiders, Blue Hats, and the Hickory Help Program, help is always available when needed.

Together, we're helping create a healthier, safer, and more supportive industry.

The crane is up on Kent Street, and Hotel Florin is starting to rise out of the ground.

A detailed project on a constrained Sydney site. Our team is building it top-down — an innovative approach from Hickory that's already saving programme and accelerating works as we rise.

It's busy work. It's what we do best. And there's more of it coming right across Sydney.

NSW's housing and infrastructure ambitions won't be achieved by doing more of the same.

Michael Kouknas, our NSW Manager joined industry leaders to discuss opportunities shaping the future of construction ’s Construction Outlook Breakfast.

With growing pressure on project feasibility, delivery timeframes, workforce capacity and cost certainty, the industry must embrace new approaches that improve productivity and reduce risk.

Michael shared how innovation will play a critical role in the future of our industry. From advanced manufacturing and digital delivery to modern methods of construction, we’re already on the journey to deliver projects with greater certainty on cost, programme and quality while increasing industry capacity to meet growing demand.

Thank you to the Property Council of Australia, moderator Ben Hughes, and fellow panelists David Chandler AM, Tiffany Emmett and Dale Connor for an insightful discussion.

Prefabrication is in our DNA. So when we were asked to install a 54-metre link bridge, connecting a live data centre to one still under construction, building it modular and entirely off-site was the obvious Hickory answer.
