Remembering Val Kilmer 🕊️

Born on December 31, 1959, in Los Angeles, California, Kilmer was one of the youngest students ever admitted to the Juilliard School’s drama division. He began his career in theater before transitioning to film in the 1980s, gaining early recognition for his performances in Top Secret! and Real Genius.

Kilmer achieved international fame as Tom “Iceman” Kazansky in Top Gun. He went on to portray real-life rock singer Jim Morrison in The Doors, a role noted for his vocal performance and physical resemblance. In 1995, he starred as Bruce Wayne/Batman in Batman Forever.

Additional notable credits include Tombstone, where he played Doc Holliday, and Heat. Over his career, Kilmer was recognized for his commitment to method-style acting and his ability to take on diverse roles.

In the 2010s, Kilmer was diagnosed with throat cancer, which significantly affected his voice. Despite this, he continued to work and later documented his life and career in the 2021 film Val.

Val Kilmer passed on April 1, 2025, at the age of 66.
