You can see the yard on your camera. But can you see the stock at the back of it?

A working camera can still leave important areas out of view.

We’ve been installing security systems in the Shoalhaven since 2010. Knowing where to put the cameras, and what to check once they’re fitted, is a big part of the job.

We look for blind spots, set the position and angle, and check coverage around gates, outdoor stock and storage areas. We also consider what could block the view as vehicles and equipment move around the site.

Then we check what the cameras actually capture.

Building a new home? Bring us into the conversation early.

While the wall cavities are accessible, it’s much easier to run the cabling your security system will need. We can also work through camera locations and coverage while you’re deciding on the rest of the house.

It’s also a good time to speak with your builder about including security in the build price, so it’s planned from the start.

Matt can sit down with you, review the plans, and talk through what will suit your home.

You’ve collected their keys. Their uniform’s been handed back.

But did anyone cancel their alarm code?

Staff come and go. Codes get assigned, shared and forgotten. A few years down the track, you can have active codes that nobody in the current team recognises, while former staff can still disarm the system.

When was the last time your business checked who still has access?

Review the active users, remove codes that are no longer needed and change shared codes that former staff know.

One of the advantages of doing this every day is you start noticing things most people wouldn't.

A camera that's slightly out of position.

A tree that's grown into the frame.

A light causing glare at night.

None of those things mean you need a whole new security system.

Sometimes a few simple adjustments are all that's needed to get much better coverage.

That's why we always recommend checking your system every so often rather than assuming everything is still working exactly as it should.
