Site walkthrough at Altona Meadows — the finishing touches are landing 👀

Stone's in, fit-off has started, paint kicks off Friday. This is the fun part — everything starts coming together and you can finally see the finished home taking shape.

We do site visits with our clients every week (sometimes fortnightly) throughout the whole build. Not because we have to — because we're just as keen to see the progress as they are.

Project Creswell: a lot's changed since you last checked in 👀

Electrical, waterproofing, tiling, kitchen, cabinetry, staircase — it's all gone in. Paint's next.

Quick bit of context: the kitchen and ensuite weren't even in the original scope. This build started with another builder who went into liquidation, and when we took over, we sat down with the clients and worked through their budget properly. Turned out there was room to do both — so we did.

That's the job. Not just building what's on paper, finding what's actually possible for the people paying for it.

We also flood test every wet area before tiling goes on — 24 hours, full flood, no shortcuts. So when we hand the keys over, we know that bathroom isn't going to leak. Ever. (Full video on that coming soon.)

Taking on your first home extension is exciting—but it can also feel like stepping into the unknown. 🏡🔨

For Darren and Lauren, having a responsive builder who listened to the whole family made the experience far easier.

🏠 WHEATSHEAF PROJECT - The Finishing Stages!

Scaffolds down, rain jackets on - but the progress never stops! 🌧️

Major updates since last visit: ✅ Black Butt timber window shrouds installed ✅ Stria + Oblique cladding complete ✅ Internal framing for service areas ✅ Plasterers battening ready for finish ✅ Kitchen bulkhead framing complete

Spotted gum reality check: Those natural tannins bleeding out? Totally normal for hardwood! 🌳 We're letting it happen naturally (best way IMO) then painting over once fully weathered. BAL 29 rated so we're all good to use timber here.

The science bit: This house will be SO airtight we need an HRV system (Heat Recovery Ventilation) up in that service ceiling!

Why? Average adult produces 20kg of water v***r daily (10kg for kids) - that's a LOT! Without mechanical ventilation = condensation = mold = health issues. Think of HRV as the building's lungs! 🫁

Remember: Cladding = rain screen. The WRB does the real weather protection work behind the scenes 💪
