May The Light Shine

This client was looking for more natural light in their home’s living room. It had windows and doors but was still a bit dark due to the aspect.

We made a standard Velux skylight appear more impressive with a multi stage splayed shaft. This design increased the light’s spread and added architectural interest.

Portico, Pergola & Verandah Repairs

We present an unremarkable outdoor ceiling. One without bowing, cracks, or water leaking from the light fittings. When we were finished, it looked like nothing had happened and that was the point.

Complex Pool Compliance

The intent behind pool fence compliance is clear. Keep the pool fence tight as possible to the pool’s edge to prevent drowning.

It has worked, and being parents we support the rationale. But what if you have a jelly bean shaped pool terraced into the backyard? After all, we live in a hilly area.

To help this client meet pool compliance at their new home we installed new fences with anti climb fillets, replaced gates, extended pool panels into no climb zones and raised their boundary brick wall.

What If?

Your external laundry access is often stairs directed towards the fence and that’s it.

We could; but what if we added a landing and two stairs for a better flow, a cover to stay dry and balustrade to steady one’s self with a laundry basket?

Putting Together A Puzzle

Some projects are straightforward, many are not. We got a call to replace an existing entry area about 1 sqm; sure no problems.

One can only assume this entry was drawn after a long lunch many years ago. The entryway held up the roof, stairs, balustrades & surrounding walkway like some evil late stage tower game. In all fairness it did stand for decades, but now it was our turn to tap a block out and see what moved. Thanks to the team with careful planning it all came together safety and in a controlled manner.

With new open faced stairs, deep ocean aluminium balustrades, decking and rebuilding the bits that kept it up there. We really enjoyed this job and are grateful for the client trusting us with the work.

Your Past Has A Sound

Growing up, my grand parent’s house had a unique noise. It was glasses & wedding gift fine china subtly rattling together in the dining room cabinet. You could always tell who was passing and their mood based on the tone.

Decades later we found insufficient floor supports was causing the same movement at a client’s home.

After installing 40 unipiers on concrete pads in some seriously inconvenient spots the floor became sure footed and still perhaps for the first time in a century. Were we chasing a creaky floor or something else, I couldn’t say.

Are Your Skylights Leaking?

It goes without saying if you’re going to cut a hole in your roof to let in light, your skylight better be water tight.

This client had new skylights put in by another company and they leaked. It ended up being rough handling and improper flashing.

We installed new brand name Velux skylights, retrofitting the space to save money.
