When your client is also your long-time collaborating builder, the design process hits a whole different level of depth.

We just officially submitted a Section 4.55 application to refine this deeply personal piece of architecture. When you work with someone who understands the transition from paper to site as well as you do, a modified DA isn't a setback—it’s an opportunity to perfect the details.

This design thrives on precision, rhythm, and a shared vision. We’re pushing the boundaries of what this home can be, ensuring every square meter is exactly where it needs to be before construction begins.

Call to Action: Builders turned clients—blessing or a curse? (Spoiler: When the trust is there, it’s 100% a blessing). Let me know your thoughts on this mid-century modern aesthetic in the comments!

Ask me anything about what makes the effort in Passivhaus design worth it?

I've spent 4 years designing a wide range of passivhaus buildings. From a small one bedroom hut in the blue mountains to renovations to large homes to the passivhaus standard. From importing everything to building with all local available building materials. Iv'e experienced a lot of trial and error figuring this out, and I'll answer every question in the comments Thursday morning at 10am.

Nothing's too basic. What do you want to know?
