Chiswick is officially complete 🎉

Comprising 29 apartments, the finished development reflects the care and attention applied throughout the construction process.

From the internal finishes through to the surrounding landscaping, every element has come together to create a considered final result.

We’re proud to share the completed project as it prepares to welcome its new residents.

A very proud moment for Astute 🏆

Last Friday, Belmont House, Alexandria won the Boutique Development category at the 2026 UDIA NSW Awards for Excellence.

It was an honour to receive the award in front of the largest UDIA NSW Awards event held in 61 years.

The award recognises the vision, craftsmanship and collaboration behind the project, which delivered thoughtfully designed residences on a highly constrained inner-city site while carefully restoring and adapting its heritage façade.

Congratulations to Benson McCormack Architecture and the entire project team. An incredible achievement for everyone who helped bring Belmont House to life 🏅👏

We’re looking forward to the 2026 Awards for Excellence next Friday, where Belmont House, Alexandria is a finalist in two categories: Urban Renewal and Boutique Development 🏅

Featuring 19 boutique apartments and four terrace homes, Belmont House brings together Alexandria’s industrial heritage with thoughtful design and high-quality construction.

We’re proud to see the project recognised and look forward to celebrating with the industry next week.

Not all of our work starts with a new build.

Remedial support is a core pillar of Astute, we help existing buildings resolve complex issues, drawing on the same construction knowledge, site discipline and problem-solving approach that guides our broader work.

Led by Ron Tabet, our remedial support team works across buildings Astute has built, along with other existing buildings we haven’t worked on requiring specialist remediation.

We understand buildings across their full lifecycle, and we’re there to support them long after handover.

Now that the machines are gone, you can really see the scale of what's been happening at Cross Street.

On a compact Double Bay site, each stage has required a highly detailed approach, from carefully managed truck movements, smaller machinery and restricted hours, to excavation progressing one metre at a time, each section braced by three rows of site-specific steel before moving on to the next.

Below the water table, constant dewatering and monitoring have also been part of the process.

Across the dig, the team has removed more than 2,200 cubic metres of material from a footprint of just 350sqm.

A strong effort from the Astute team and RC Civil Contractors.

Removing an excavator from a constrained site like Double Bay takes careful planning 🏗️

With limited space, bracing and structural elements to work around, every movement needed to be carefully planned and coordinated by the site team, operators and traffic/logistics team.

This milestone marks the close of a major 12-month stage at Cross Street. From the shoring stage, where the piling rig barely fit in the site, through to this point, it has been a year of precise sequencing, problem-solving and site coordination.

A big thank you to Borger Cranes for helping make it happen.

Landscaping is complete at Chiswick 🌿

With planting done and the outdoor spaces taking shape, only final touches remain before we hand over the keys 🔑

It’s always an exciting milestone when green appears on site, softening the built form, bringing the outdoor areas to life and often signalling the completion of a project.

With the finish line in sight, Chiswick will soon be ready to welcome its first residents. Stay tuned!

A great session with construction advisor and waterproofing consultant Stan Giaouris this week 👏

The Astute team came together for a workshop focused on waterproofing best practice, detailing, compliance and long-term building performance.

Whether it’s basements and balconies or wet areas and rooftops, these conversations are an important part of delivering quality projects and getting the details right early.

As Principal Building Consultant at The Construction Adviser, Stan brought a wealth of industry knowledge and insight to the session.
