Hi all. We’re looking for pump technicians to join our team. A very busy pump shop in Sumner Park.

We’re also looking for anyone who wants a fitter and turner apprenticeship. Maybe just out of school and you’re not sure what to do 🤷🏻‍♂️

We are a 12 year old local business with almost 30 years of skills behind us. You’ll learn hydraulics, but with water. Also filtration, irrigation and pump repairs. We are the one stop shop for anything to do with shifting water.

Last week we installed a new bore pump at Rochedale State High School to irrigate their oval and provide water for their stock in their Agricultural Department. Unfortunately, the bore water has an extremely low pH which means it's very acidic. This wouldn't be good for their animals to drink. It also means that a normal bore pump won't last very long in this environment.

To combat this, we have installed an 11kw Grundfos SP-R bore pump which is manufactured completely of 904L stainless steel. The good news is that the pump should last a lifetime, the bad news is that it's extremely heavy (95kg) which means we had to use a sling with a tripod to lower it in. The pump then operates from a Grundfos CUE variable frequency drive which will save the school thousands of dollars a year in power.

However, once the water is out of the bore, there's still the issue of the low pH. As their animals in the Ag farm can't drink this water, we also installed a calcite filter from Puretec which neutralises the pH back to normal. Happy animals now and a beautiful green oval. Hydration Consultants have well over 20 years experience in bore pumps and all that encompasses the requirements of our clients. Those requirements are tank filling, irrigation, stock water and domestic supply. We're quite often asked which brand would we use when it comes to choosing a bore pump. The answer is simple. Considering the limited accessibility of a bore pump, we would only install the best quality available. The main brands we recommend is Grundfos, Lowara and Calpeda for the simple reason that you don't want to remove it for many years, and these brands are all European made which means they will last the distance.

We can also treat bore water to remove any existing iron–oxide, which can affect the performance of the bore pump. While it's natural for bores to temporarily run low on water, there could be an issue with the iron–oxide levels. If your bore pump is not functioning as you think it should, or as it once used to, give us a call to discuss your options.

Beautiful installation by Matty this week. It's a Lowara 22HMS with a Hydrovar variable frequency drive used to boost mains water for a large laundromat in Inala QLD. http://www.supremelaundromats.com.au/

Because Matty did his mathematical calculations correctly, the laundromat can now have every washing machine running at once without any hydraulic issues or water hammer. And because it's a variable speed pressure system, the owners will save $$$ the cost of their new pump in around 2 years from their power bill savings.

The external underfloor plumbing also continued at St Andrews Anglican College Peregian Springs today. This will be an ongoing series of posts showing our progress over the next few months (and into next year). You can clearly see the concrete shell of the 50m pool in the background. There’s also a learn to swim pool in the front corner which is included in this underfloor plumbing. Great job today by Matthew Dennis and Jamie Creed.
