Battery Rebate changes on 1 January 2027, but does not end.

The Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme for solar batteries shrinks every 6 months and ends on 31 December 2030.

Three factors to consider:

*The installation date matters, not the deposit date
*The amount of usable energy from the battery matters, not the capacity of the battery
*Batteries up to 14kWh earn the full discount rate, and every kWh after that is at a reduced rate

Exciting news! 🌞 Work is underway to install a 20 kW solar system at a commercial property in Baringa, providing a significant reduction in energy costs. This project is a great example of how businesses can offset large daytime energy loads from lighting and machinery.🌟

Solar battery storage has transformed the way homes use energy.

Instead of selling excess solar power during the day and buying it back at higher evening rates, households can now store that energy and use it when they need it most. Batteries reduce reliance on the grid, provide backup during blackouts, and are becoming more of a necessity than a luxury.

With government battery rebates still available, now is a great time to invest in battery storage for your home or business.

From 1 July 2026, the Federal Government will implement the Solar Share Offer (SSO) in South East Queensland, offering three hours free electricity for householders with a smart meter.

As Australia's electricity grid is rapidly changing, homeowners are being encouraged to shift energy use to the expected three hours of free electricity between 11am - 3pm.

Solar battery and electric vehicle (EV) owners are the bigger winners as they may be able to charge their batteries and cars during the free electricity window, and then use the stored energy during expensive peak times.

For households without solar or batteries, the scheme could still provide genuine savings, particularly for those at home during the day. Running major appliances such as dryers, washing machines, pool pumps etc during the free electricity period will help drastically reduce power bills.

However, retailers still need to recover their costs somehow, and this would mean higher peak tariffs, higher daily supply tariffs or reduced feed-in tariffs, so it's always best to read the fine print.

Is your 10-year old system meeting your expectations in 2026?

Most systems installed in 2016-2017 were designed for a different reality, and these smaller systems are not enough to cover today's energy demands.

Not only is 10-year old technology outdated, but so too are the components ageing out. Inverters are out of warranty, and solar panels are operating below their rated output. The system hasn't failed outright, but no longer delivers bill relief.

Keeping an aging system not only limits your savings today but also blocks your future savings.

A professional solar health check can make a difference and advise on your best options.
