Captain’s Log #5
6 months of being in our shed space in Marcoola. That’s a bit of a doozy, I think into that and honestly it doesn’t make sense, how has it been this long? Yet at the same time it’s like it’s been forever.
February served up its lessons, the type of lessons that dawn upon you over time. The month felt like it was very step by step. I don’t assume that this is how everyone’s month went, just in a sense what I observed from my own. February reinforced to me that doing the bare minimum for myself and the business could equal about the same as a full time job working for someone else, and there seems to be less pressure that comes with that.
One thing I confirmed is that I won’t build a business that does 1000 jobs for a $100.
One thing I learned is that if things doesn’t seem clear, ensure that they are.
One thing I earned was a set of kettlebells.
I felt challenged by not having “much work”, and in that space without “much work” I managed to prepare some things. I feel like I’m beginning to understand the balance. Preparing the business for what is ahead, without actually knowing what is ahead. Doing the work that comes up, but making sure that the work gets done before moving on to the next thing and finally closing it off, tying off the loose ends.
I imagine my business is operating like bellows used to stoke the flames of a fire. As the bellows fill with air, the energy gathers ready to be released. A squeeze of the bellows pushes air into the fire building up the intensity of the flames, long, deep, intentional. Focusing our energy on stoking these flames.
