Cows got in and snapped the pipework on the capillaries on these condensers. Time to get it back up and running! 🔧❄️

Living and working around the rural areas of the Noosa hinterland and Gympie region means we get plenty of farm work. No two days are the same and that’s what i love.

A bit of a vulnerable share today… might delete later 😂

Guess what? You’re going to make mistakes in this trade.

I’ve had some bad days I’ll never forget.
Ones that taught me some pretty costly lessons.

But sometimes that’s how you learn.
You figure out what went wrong, own it, learn from it… and you make damn sure you never do it again.

Welcome back to Smoko Chat — Episode 4 ☕️🔧
This week we’re talking refrigerants and which way we’re all heading!

CO₂ and transcritical systems are getting whacked in across the supermarket, cold storage and retail space. A2L’s into our imported and smaller gear🔥

This is also a whole new ball game for techs with granly co2 pressures and flammable refrigerants. Are we starting to get complacent, is enough training being provided?

What about the good old stuff!?

The classics, R22, R404, let’s just say the price has gone up.

So what are we all doing with old gear? Retrofit? Reusing? Replacing it altogether?

And as CO₂ continues to become more common, I’m keen to know what you’re seeing on the tools.

I reckon it’s time for a little intro.

If you’re new around here, G’day I’m Tim.

I’ve spent 15+ years in HVAC+R, working in the trade and seeing the industry from the ground up.

These days, I’m doing things a little differently — helping HVAC+R and electrical businesses find good people, and helping tradies find the right next move.

I’ll be sharing life on the tools, industry stuff, things I’m seeing and hearing, and a bit of life outside of work too.

Moisture in a switchboard, not ideal. 😬
It doesn’t take much moisture to turn a normal day on the tools into a much bigger problem.
Corrosion, nuisance tripping, insulation breakdown and potentially some very unhappy gear.
Sparkies — what’s the first thing you’re checking when you find moisture in a board? 👀
