🚨 Aqua Direct Plumbing Emergency Tip!
​A burst pipe? Every second counts! Knowing how to shut off your water immediately can prevent huge damage.

​1. Find Your Water Meter:
Your water meter is usually located at the front of your property close to the boundary line.

​2. Locate the Valve:
It looks like a tap handle, a lever, or a T-shaped handle attached to the pipe leading away from the meter and into your home.

Shut it off:
In an emergency, turn this valve clockwise (to the right) until it stops completely. This cuts off the water supply to your entire house. Tip! It may be a little stiff as it doesn't get used very often.

Then call Aqua Direct Plumbing and leave it to the experts.

The Hidden Danger Under Your Sink: Check Your Flexi Hoses for RUST!

​Flexible stainless steel hoses (or 'flexi hoses') connect your taps, toilets, and appliances, and they are the single most common cause of catastrophic flooding in Australian homes.

​The Problem: Rust is a Ticking Time Bomb. ​The stainless steel braiding on the outside of these hoses is designed to hold in the high water pressure.
​When rust, corrosion, or fraying appears on the braid, it means the hose is compromised and can no longer contain the pressure. ​A burst flexi hose can unleash thousands of litres of water per hour, leading to massive damage to floors, cabinetry, and ceilings in minutes!

​Where to Check:
​
Under the ​kitchen sink
​Under the bathroom sink
Near the ​toilet cistern

What to Look For:
Rust Spots, discolouration,
fraying or bulging and age. If the hose is over 5-10 years old, it's time for a replacement, even if it looks fine!
