⚡ FROM SWITCHBOARDS TO SURFBOARDS 🏄‍♂️⚡

One of the best things about moving to the Sunshine Coast has been getting outside and making the most of what’s right on our doorstep.

I’ve always loved being outdoors, but surfing was something I’d never really given a proper crack. So with a bit of encouragement from my mate Pierre, I finally decided to stop talking about it and get in the water.

Turns out learning to surf in your late 30s is a humbling experience 😂 Plenty of wipeouts, plenty of sand in places it shouldn’t be, but I’m absolutely loving it.

Massive shout-out to the team at Caloundra Surf School for helping this sparky get started. Great instructors, plenty of patience, and a good laugh along the way. If you’ve ever thought about giving surfing a crack, I’d definitely recommend them. 🤙

That’s one thing I’ve really appreciated since moving here — there are so many opportunities to try new things, meet good people, and enjoy the lifestyle that makes the Sunshine Coast such a great place to live.

Whether it’s surfing, fishing, camping, or just spending time with the family outdoors, it’s hard to beat.

And when I’m not falling off a surfboard, I’m out helping locals with their electrical work ⚡

Another tidy setup wrapped up this week 👌

Installed a brand new server cabinet and relocated the NBN inside for a much cleaner, more practical setup. Ran a total of 14 data outlets throughout the house, all neatly terminated back to the cabinet with plenty of room left for future upgrades – perfect for security cameras, extra workstations, or whatever comes next.

Also added a couple of dedicated power points inside the cabinet to keep everything powered up and organised properly.

No mess, no shortcuts – just a solid job done right.

Switchboard Upgrade Completed This Week ⚡️

This week we ripped out an old rectangular switchboard with chipboard backing and upgraded it to a brand-new meter box. All the existing cables had to be extended and neatly re-terminated into the new board to bring everything up to a much safer and more modern standard.

The power had to be off for most of the day, so we ran a small generator on site to keep the fridge and essentials going for the customer while the work was carried out.

Another great job finished and another happy customer.

No BS. Straight up electrical.

💡 Switchboard Upgrade – Before & After 💡

Client wanted their switchboard upgraded to full compliance. Once I dug a bit deeper, I found the mains cable wasn’t correctly terminated in the main switch — still going through the meter, but not safely connected.

After rectifying that, I rewired the entire board to meet current standards, tidied up all circuits, and fully tested everything. ✅

Client was happy, and now the switchboard is safe, compliant, and ready to handle modern appliances without any hassle.

Another pool fit-off done and dusted today for a homeowner who decided to take on building his own pool — and he’s done a bloody good job of it too.

Got all the electrical sorted in this heat, from the control gear to the outlets, and even jumped in for a quick swim so I could fit off, test, and commission the pool lights. All up and running, looking mint.

Always good fun helping people bring their projects over the line — especially when there’s a bit of water involved to cool off afterwards.
