𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐦 𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐮𝐩 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐃𝐨𝐦 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 🤩

This morning we got to watch it happen again, cheering on our leader, Dominique Gill, at the inaugural Female Leadership in Apartment Management Excellence (FLAME) Event in Martin Place.

We love watching Dom speak, the same Dom on a panel as the one we see in the office and on site. She brings her whole self to it. And every time (and there have been a lot of times) she finds a fresh story to tell. This morning it was the idea that in a world racing toward AI, our emotions are the 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫.

She also came back to one of our values, 𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐥𝐞. Quoting author Ryan Holiday, she described every setback as a gift you have to unwrap, the learning is always sitting there in the middle.

We never get sick of hearing how she looked at an industry with few women on site and decided something had to change. Proud of you Dom, we 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 supporting you.

Throwback to our QLD team visiting iFab Steel's factory to inspect this beast of a curved stair for our luxury retail project in Brisbane’s CBD.

Standing in the factory and seeing something this complex come together is a reminder of why we love what we do.

It's been a fantastic collaboration with the team at iFAB, seeing the level of engineering, craftsmanship and precision that goes into bringing a feature like this to life never gets old.

Fast forward and this beauty is already standing on site and we can't wait to share the finished project with you.

Our mission has officially landed on the big screen in Martin Place and we couldn’t be prouder. During VIVID no less so roughly 2M passers-by likely to see it (no big deal) 😆

It all started when our hoarding on 20 Martin Place caught the eye of the organisers. They looked us up, instantly loved what we stand for and asked if we’d like to put our mission statement up on their giant screen. We thought about it for about 2 milliseconds and here we are…

𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐟𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞-𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐟 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲, one giant screen at a time.

Seeing that message up in lights, right next door to where our team is hard at work feels pretty special.
Seeing our people make their big-screen debut? That’s the icing on the slab. 😉

I love that it was our purpose that got us there, not the big flashy projects or the turnover. Proof that when you stand for something meaningful, people notice and when it matters, they want to be a part of it.

And we are back at Martin Place! There’s something quite satisfying about seeing our branding go up in such an iconic location (working here is alright too 😉 )

𝐈𝐭'𝐬 𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐭𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲 (𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐟𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐦) 🌏

Nearly 30 million tonnes of construction waste is generated in Australia every year. Even with strong recycling rates, millions of tonnes still end up in landfill. Ouch.

We're not waiting for the industry to change, we're changing how we build.

Imagine Australian landscapes dotted with forests that exist because of construction projects. Because of US! 🌱

With our projects, we are contributing to the restoration of legally protected native forests in Australia and New Zealand.

Our waste management strategy already emphasises recycling across all project phases, with a minimum target of 90 percent of all materials diverted from landfill. For the materials that can’t be saved, has our back by offsetting the emissions. 🤝

A living, breathing legacy for the next generation.

It's easy to post on Earth Day... It's harder to build differently the other 364 days.

is expanding its Nursing and Midwifery programs into Victoria at Artifex Property Group's 1010 La Trobe Street, Docklands - a significant step in the university’s continued growth. We were engaged to design and construct the clinical simulation suite that makes it possible.

It wasn't a simple fitout. This was a full change of use from a commercial office, reclassified to a training facility. That means fire, life safety, egress, and services all redesigned to meet NCC requirements. Just another day. 🙃

Regular readers will know that we do love a live environment. It's practically a personality trait at this point. 😅 The building was fully operational throughout, with teaching spaces directly above and below, noise was non-negotiable and higher impact works were pushed out of hours.

We said the VIC team would get it done and what they've left behind is a simulation suite that looks, feels and functions like a real clinical environment. Midwifery and Nursing are as personal as it gets - people who will be there for some of the most profound moments of a person's life. We don't take that lightly. The conditions we create need to prepare them for the work ahead.

𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐇𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐩𝐮𝐛 𝐭𝐚𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐮𝐬 𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐲 🍺

Urban Core has officially touched down in Tasmania! After navigating heritage exemptions and building permits, we began work at The Hobart Town Hotel and what a project to kick things off with!

This was a 183-year-old pub! Built in 1842. And like any building that old, it had some surprises waiting for us...

When challenges arose, our very own Sash Trajanovski, John Popovski and Dane Thomas didn’t just stand by, they rolled up their sleeves, sourced the materials, and got their hands dirty doing the prep work themselves.

That's the 𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐥𝐞 mindset in action - we don't just survive setbacks; we get stronger because of them. 💪

We stripped back the existing kitchen and dining areas - taking this old space back to its bones. Then it was time to honour the heritage while building something that works for the next generation of locals.

Our joinery team crafted refinements to the bar, new bottle display units, service counters, and benches. Existing timber flooring was brought back to life, with new carpet and tiling in designated areas. We even added a new cool room to the existing building.

This complete transformation was an incredibly rewarding experience. One classic pub reimagined for a whole new chapter.

𝐋𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝐰𝐞 𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐕𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐚! 🎉

We gambled on our rooftop with the Melbourne skyline as the backdrop and zero backup plan for the weather. And Melbourne delivered. ☀️

These events exist for a reason. Our mission to 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 only goes as far as the people we bring along with us, and that means trade partners who are genuinely invested in where the industry is heading.

We made it personal and we didn’t hold back. From brutal stats about productivity, mental wellbeing and diversity to what we’re doing at Urban Core to change it. Honest conversations happened face to face, over good food (enough to feed a small village) and with people who care.

We also had to bring the Who Wants to be a Millionaire (construction style) gameshow to Victoria. Site Manager John Popovski took on hosting duties and we may have found his true calling. 😂
