Today I had to re organise my shelving and sprinkle the ant dust all over. Mission accomplished.

Today I made a succulent advanced potting mix. This mix I use for most of my succulents and they are thriving. Picture is attached of the end mixture. What ever measuring cup you use, make sure to use that when mixing other soil mediums.

I mix cups of seed raising and propagation mix

1 x peat moss or coco peat

1 x perlite

Half cup of akadama

1 tablespoons powerfeed

I use clay pebbles on the base of each pot, this ensures drainage for the plant and minimises root rot. I also cover the drainage holes with mesh.

You can use whatever decorative rock that you like. I had the decorative rock I purchased from bunnings. Most items have been purchased from bunnings, however the clay pebbles and akadama I purchase from nurseries also the soil is my local farmer.

The benefits of mixing your own soil is that you control the nutrients that is provided for the plant.

We love our succulent and cactus plants, we also love growing our own veggies cucumbers, chillies, capsicums, eggplant, tomato's and beans. This year will be a heat wave so we are building a greenhouse with 30-50% shade cloth so our veggies can get the sun they need but also be protected. The frame is nearly finished.

Most of my succulents went through frost this year as I had to move. Now that they will not be moving I have created my space to relax & have my coffee and care for my succulents. I have covered the top with 50% shade cloth, lattice backdrop, timber shelving. Still work in progress.

my beautiful babies are recovering after I moved homes, had no shade cloth up just after the move and some of my plants suffered frost bite. Now that they have their shade cloth they are recovering well and will need the shade cloth with this year's spring / summers heat.

Love having my afternoon coffee on my balcony with cake ☺️ looking at my succulents I can do it all day 😍 Honestly it's so calming ❤️❤️❤️
