Project Update | Residential Pier Drilling & Concrete – Hornsby NSW
Recently completed a residential pier package on a sloping site in Hornsby, involving careful planning, tight access, and staged works to suit site conditions.
Scope of works included:
Drilling 26 bored piers
300mm diameter x 450mm deep
Pier drilling carried out using a 1.7t excavator with auger
Works completed efficiently in a single visit for the excavation stage
Due to site access constraints and to minimise disruption to the property, concrete placement was completed using a small line pump, avoiding wheelbarrowing around the house and ensuring a clean, controlled pour.
Concrete details:
32 MPa structural concrete
1.1 m³ supplied and pumped
Allowance made for irregular holes, pump line loss, and washout
Concrete protected during early curing due to weather conditions
On sloping sites, pier heights naturally follow ground levels, with any required above-ground extensions achieved using formers supplied prior to pouring.

Prepped the entire car park area using the excavator, shaped the bases, and got everything ready for today’s kerb pour.

Fresh concrete down and starting to take shape nicely.
