Honored to exhibit at Parlour Gardens in Barcelona alongside thirteen of the world's leading architects and landscape architects. June to October 2026.

One hundred years after the 1927 Parlor Gardens exhibition, our studio has created TECTONIC Garden, reimagining the dialogue between nature and the built environment.

Nine ceramic flutes rise from a circular base, their industrial forms echoing the cooling towers and smokestacks that define our urban horizons. But rather than symbols of extraction, they become vessels for life. Monthly, a curator selects new flower species. Each bloom a quiet act of renewal reaching upward from brutal form.

As flowers fade and are replaced, the work embodies a truth central to our practice: our cities aren't nature's opposition. They are the contemporary expression of nature itself, constantly declining, renewing, transforming.

This exhibition features: James Corner, Thomas Doxiadis, Gareth Doherty, Adam Greenspan, Phil Harris, Walter Hood, Tarna Klitzner, Kamel Louafi, Jala Makhzoumi & Abdul-Halim Jabr, Teresa Moller, Catherine Mosbach, and Peter Stutchbury.

This is Biourbanism in practice. Recognizing that tectonic landscapes of decline are not voids, but fertile ground where nature and culture remake one another.

Ken Birdsey Park, Schofields, Sydney : Early Works Accelerating

Major progress on the ground at Ken Birdsey Park, where early works are moving rapidly ahead on this transformational 20ha park for Blacktown City Council.

Constructed by Glascott Landscape and Civil, our team is delivering green and blue infrastructure across the site: creek realignment, stormwater harvesting systems, land remediation, wetlands, aquatic ecology, amenities building and community open space.

At McGregor Coxall, continuous learning drives everything we do. No matter how much experience we gain, there's always something new to understand about how we shape our cities.

That's why we're committed to sharing that knowledge, and seeking it out ourselves.

Last month, we welcomed three high school students for work experience, introducing them to city masterplanning. Their brief: research local context and design three ideas that would improve both community and environment.

In just one week, they delivered:
- Manly Beach – restoring dunes and enhancing native habitat
- Market Lane – relocating the car park underground to create a green community heart
- Gilbert Place – transforming the space into a sports and recreation hub

Their work demonstrated curiosity, creativity, and genuine commitment to making better place.
That same day, our Manly team took to active transport bikes for an EOFY outing, reconnecting with past projects across the local area. Seeing our work through the lens of how people actually move through and experience these places reinforced what the students were designing for: real communities, real needs, real impact.

Learning isn't one direction. It flows from students asking fresh questions, from teams revisiting their own work, from staying curious about the places we've shaped and the ones still to come.
Congratulations to all three students. Keep learning, keep questioning, keep designing better places.

Aldea Tropicalia shortlisted for the World Architecture Festival

World Architecture Festival (WAF) is the largest live awards event for architects and designers. Held annually, it is the only awards program where all finalists present their projects live to a panel of judges at the festival in Miami, Florida.

McGregor Coxall's Aldea Tropicalia masterplan for a biophilic village in the Dominican Republic has been shortlisted in the Future Projects: Masterplanning category at this year's festival.

Drawn from more than 630 entries this year, the shortlist spans completed buildings, interiors, landscapes, and future concepts across eight distinct categories.

McGregor Coxall Founder and CEO Adrian McGregor says the shortlisting reflects the studio's biourbanism approach to masterplanning:
"Aldea Tropicalia is a demonstration of what's possible when regenerative ecology and urban design are treated as one discipline, not two. Being shortlisted alongside the world's leading practices at WAF demonstrates how biourbanism creates health and well being to sustain urban living."

All finalists will head to the World Architecture Festival in Fort Lauderdale this November to present their work live before international juries."

Three talented graduates joining McGregor Coxall across our Sydney and Melbourne Studios.

Nadine Samaraie joins the Melbourne studio, originally from Aotearoa. She brings a detail-focused creative approach with a passion for using landscape architecture to amplify community voices and shape contextual narratives.

Maite Clericus Rivadeneira joins the Sydney studio, from Chile. She is interested in ecological design, water-sensitive systems, and public space, with deep knowledge in sustainable urban resilience and biodiversity-focused design.

Jack Elcombe joins the Sydney studio, focused on urban challenges with strong social impacts from affordable housing, transport, sustainability, and social equity, with strong skills in urban analysis, GIS, and 3D modelling.

Adrian McGregor chats with Costa on ABC Gardening Australia about McGregor Coxall's Vision for Returning Country to Ballast Point Park : Walama

This 2.8-hectare waterfront park, perched on Wangal Country in Birchgrove, sits on the bones of the former Caltex petrochemical refinery. In the local Wangal language it is called Walama — to return.

When Adrian McGregor, Philip Coxall and their team were tasked with transforming the site, they refused the easy path of erasure. Instead, they built the future from the past. The design overlays fine-grain detailing over a robust constructed base, keeping industrial elements visible as quiet reminders of what came before, while the site itself performs a circular journey: from green space, through industrial extraction, back to green space again.

Nothing was wasted. Construction rubble was recycled on-site and packed into reinforced earth walls that now read as landscape features. Stormwater that once flowed directly into the harbour is now filtered through planting. Even the Caltex storage tank was reconfigured, fitted with wind turbines, it stands as a sculptural monument to the shift from fossil fuels to renewable energy.

Most significantly, the planting was undertaken with deliberate care: only species that would have originally grown on this headland. As these plants take hold, the land gradually returns to an appearance that would have been recognisable to its Indigenous custodians.

The design recently earned heritage listing from the NSW State Government, a rare accolade for contemporary work.

Costa remarked, "Twelve years on, the planting has matured into something that feels less designed than discovered. At 2.8 hectares, Ballast Point may never be Sydney's largest park. But as an act of ecological restoration, circular design, and genuine care — it may be one of the most meaningful."
