The timber deck was already there. What was missing was shade.

The client had the deck, but no covered spot to actually sit outside. So we built an insulated patio over the verandah to give them a cool, shaded area they can use all year round.

Bright, cool and covered, with the light still coming through. 🌤️

This insulated patio turns the backyard into a space the family can use all year round. Finished in Colorbond Monument, the roofline sits cleanly against the dark brick home. Skylights keep the area bright through the day, and the insulated roof keeps the heat out.

Look closely. 👀 There are 3 things in this photo that make this backyard usable all year round.

1️⃣ The roof is insulated, so it stays cool under summer sun instead of radiating heat down on you.
2️⃣ The downlights are built into the ceiling, so there are no extension leads and no fairy lights to put up.
3️⃣ The ceiling fan keeps air moving on those still, sticky Sydney nights.

Most people only notice the couch. The build is what makes it worth sitting on.

Built for the moments after sunset. 🌙

Under this insulated patio, the backyard doesn't shut down when the sun goes down. The lights come on, the fans start turning, and dinner stays outside. It's a proper covered space that works all year: cooler in summer, dry in winter.

A few recent builds around Sydney. 👀

Different homes, different backyards, same standard of work. Each of these started as unused space and now they're the part of the house the family actually spends time in.

Nobody wakes up and decides to put off their backyard for three years.

It just happens. You get a rough number in your head, you decide it's not the right time, and then it's another summer of the kids playing in the sun with nowhere to sit, another Christmas hosting inside.

We've had homeowners tell us they'd been thinking about it since 2023.

The build itself takes a couple of weeks. The deciding is what takes years.

If the number is the thing holding you up, that part is solvable.

Swipe through and have a look.
