Project Complete | Bondi, NSW

Another successful remedial building rectification and warranty claim project completed by our team on this high-end residential building in Bondi.
Working on a premium property in a prominent Bondi location presented a number of unique challenges. With restricted access along a busy Campbell Parade, scaffolding was required to safely facilitate the works while keeping disruption to residents and the surrounding community to a minimum.

The project included:
Structural repairs to the balconies
Waterproofing works to address the failed membrane
Replacement of curved glass balustrades
Bespoke balustrade works, with every balcony presenting slightly different dimensions and requirements
Fire-rating works to the balcony soffits

The curved glass replacement required a high level of precision, with each balcony being individually measured and fabricated to suit its unique configuration. We also designed, fabricated and installed individually engineered curved aluminium flashing profiles; they were custom-manufactured to suit the specific geometry, radius, dimensions and site conditions of each balcony.
The result is a significantly improved façade that has transformed the appearance of the building and restored it to a like-new presentation — befitting its high-end residential character.

Beyond addressing the underlying defects, the completed works have enhanced the building’s appearance, safety, functionality and long-term durability, helping to protect and enhance the property for owners.

Hudson House | Project Complete

We’re proud to announce the successful completion of our Level 15 & 16 Window Replacement Project at Hudson House, a complex remedial upgrade in the heart of Sydney’s CBD.

The project involved the full removal and replacement of windows, sliding doors, façade framing and associated roofing elements across both levels, addressing long-standing water ingress issues and improving the overall performance of the building envelope.

Working within a confined CBD footprint, the project presented a number of logistical and technical challenges. Crane mobilisation, engineered lift studies, traffic control and detailed methodology were carefully coordinated to safely deliver the works in a live commercial environment.

Compliance was also critical, with fire compliance, structural certification, façade performance requirements and working-at-height regulations forming key components of the delivery, in accordance with Australian Standards and engineered specifications.
The completed works provide the building with improved waterproofing, thermal performance and façade durability, while helping protect the asset and reduce future maintenance risks.

A fantastic outcome delivered through the dedication and collaboration of our project team, consultants and the happy client.

From planning to progress
A great step forward for this Owners Corporation as we recently hosted an information session with owners ahead of a major re-waterproofing project involving defective balconies and terraces.

The session was an opportunity to walk owners through the project methodology, proposed schedule and what to expect throughout the works, while also answering questions and addressing concerns before works get underway.

And, importantly, we finished the session by signing the contract — marking the transition from years of planning and preparation into delivery.

Projects of this scale don’t simply happen when a contractor arrives on site. There is a tremendous amount of work undertaken by the Owners Corporation, engineers and consultants long before a project can even reach the tender stage — from investigating the building and identifying the extent of defects, to developing the appropriate scope, methodology and documentation, obtaining expert advice and working through the many decisions required to get the project ready for market.

We want to applaud this Owners Corporation for their tireless effort, commitment and dedication to seeing these issues addressed properly. It takes patience, collaboration and a genuine long-term commitment to the building and its owners to get to this point.

Now, the focus turns to delivering the works and rectifying the building for the benefit of all owners — protecting the property and improving its long-term performance.

Case Study | Gazebo Apartments, Elizabeth Bay

Gazebo Apartments is a prominent, fully occupied high-rise located in the heart of Elizabeth Bay. Remedial was engaged to deliver a major, multi-year remediation program following council fire orders relating to building non-compliances across both passive and active fire systems.

The scope of works was extensive and complex, involving fire defect rectification across 154 occupied apartments, façade repairs and coatings, balustrade upgrades, waterproofing works, and broader building compliance upgrades to meet NCC requirements. With residents in place and a bar and bistro operating at grouand level, careful planning and proactive stakeholder engagement were critical to minimising disruption and maintaining day-to-day operations.

Through innovative access solutions, robust project controls and clear, ongoing communication with residents and stakeholders, Remedial safely delivered the works over multiple stages. The project recorded 84,000 man hours with zero lost-time injuries, while achieving full fire safety compliance and significantly improving the building’s long-term performance and appearance.

This $13.5M, award-winning project is a strong example of Remedial’s ability to manage complex, high-risk remediation works in live residential and commercial environments — delivering compliant outcomes, added asset value and high levels of client satisfaction.

Delivering a safer, more durable and future-ready environment for this childcare centre through extensive remediation and refurbishment works across an approximate 1,859m² gross floor area.

The project involved the structural redesign of the Level 1 deck area incorporating a butterfly flooring system, new PVC membrane installation, and strip drainage upgrades to improve long-term waterproofing performance and building resilience.

In the investigation process, major building design deficiencies and non-compliant fire stopping installations were identified. Working collaboratively with structural and fire engineers, we implemented solutions to rectify these building elements and achieve compliance.

The wider remediation scope included roof remediation, façade and soffit replacements, weatherproofing upgrades, internal wall and ceiling renewals, mechanical and electrical reinstatement, and the transformation of outdoor play spaces — all delivered while maintaining occupied operations for the day care centre.
