Planning a Bathroom Renovation? Don’t Miss These Essentials!
There’s a lot to think about when renovating a bathroom — from the look to the layout, and everything in between. To help make it easier, we’ve created a checklist to keep you on track:

1. Layout: A well-thought-out layout is key, especially in small bathrooms. Prioritise practicality to maximise space and flow.
2. Tiles: The colour, texture, and pattern of your tiles impact how large the room feels. Light-coloured tiles can help open up the space, and don’t forget wet areas need tiles that are water-resistant!
3. Plumbing: Older homes in particular should have their plumbing inspected before renovation. This helps uncover hidden issues before they become costly problems.
4. Storage: Often overlooked, but always needed. Think outside the box with clever storage solutions like recessed shelves, mirrored cabinets, or under-vanity drawers.
5. Fixtures: Pre-plan the position of all fixtures for maximum functionality. Also consider maintenance, chrome may look sleek, but it shows watermarks more easily.
6. Lighting: Natural light is always best, but when that’s not an option, strip LED lighting has become a popular and stylish solution.
7. Power Points: There are strict regulations around electricity in bathrooms. A licensed electrician can advise on safe and clever placements like inside drawers or behind mirrors.
8. Ventilation: Proper airflow prevents mould and moisture damage over time. Make sure there’s enough ventilation through windows, exhaust fans, or both.

The 3 Most Common Questions We Get Asked About Bathroom Renovations

1. How much will it cost?
It depends on your goals and budget. A basic makeover—replacing the toilet, vanity, shower screen, taps, and towel rails—starts from around $6,500. A mid-range upgrade that includes resurfacing or tiling over existing finishes usually costs between $8,500 and $15,000. A full strip-out and redesign can range from $18,000 to $30,000, while high-end renovations with custom vanities, premium fixtures, marble tiles, and interior design can reach $30,000 to $60,000 or more.

2. How long does a bathroom renovation take?
Bathroom renovations take longer than they appear to on TV. Depending on the size and complexity of the project, they can run anywhere from one to eight weeks. A standard renovation typically takes around four weeks. High-end projects can take up to seven weeks due to custom items and more detailed work. Delays can also happen if tradespeople are unavailable or if you're waiting for things like waterproofing certification before tiling. Always allow extra time just in case.

3. What are common mistakes?
Common mistakes include choosing the cheapest quote, not checking for licensed trades, and allowing a tiler to carry out plumbing and electrical work. This is both risky and illegal without the correct qualifications and licenses. Getting professional advice from the start can help you avoid costly issues down the line.

2025 Bathroom Trends: Embrace Organic Elegance
This year, it’s all about organic shapes and natural materials. We’re seeing a shift towards calming, spa-like bathrooms with warm wood accents, pebble tiles, and curved design elements. While clean lines still have their place in modern bathrooms, more people are leaning into softer forms—think fluted vanities and arched mirrors—to create a space that feels both luxurious and inviting.

One trend we’re absolutely loving right now is the backlit mirror
Not only does it create a sleek, high-end finish, but it’s also incredibly functional. The soft LED glow provides even illumination—perfect for grooming, shaving, or makeup—without harsh shadows.
It adds a floating light effect that brings modern elegance to any space, and the best part? It’s energy-efficient too!
Say goodbye to the overhead light and hello to eco-friendly style.

Little Colour Goes a Long Way.
Adding a bit of colour is a great way to bring life and personality into your new bathroom. One of the most popular ways to do this is with a feature tile—often in the shower area—to make things pop. You could also go for coloured tapware, a bold vanity, or even just some fun accessories. Whether you want something bright or just a hint of contrast, a splash of colour can really pull the whole space together
