Delighted to be shortlisted for the Houses Awards 2026 Sustainability category too!

We’re really chuffed that our Merriwa Farmhouse project has been shortlisted in both 2026 Houses Awards entered.

The standard of work recognised by the Houses Awards each year is extraordinary, so we’re genuinely honoured to see this project included amongst such thoughtful company.

Operating completely off-grid, the homestead eliminates reliance on mechanical systems through a finely tuned passive design combining strategic solar orientation, thermal mass, and courtyard evaporative cooling. By retaining the original Federation dwelling to conserve embodied carbon and utilising a precision-prefabricated cross-laminated timber (CLT) structure, construction waste was significantly minimised. Integrated solar storage and closed-loop water complete this self-sufficient, low-maintenance home built for resilient regional living.

Well that’s a lovely surprise!

We’re really chuffed that our Merriwa Farmhouse project has been shortlisted in both 2026 Houses Awards entered ~ firstly Alterations & Additions over 200m²

The standard of work recognised by the Houses Awards each year is extraordinary, so we’re genuinely honoured to see this project included amongst such thoughtful company.

The project was designed as a response to place, climate and family life in regional NSW, transforming an existing homestead into a home that is both resilient and deeply connected to its landscape.

More than anything, we’re pleased for our clients. They backed an ambitious idea, trusted the process completely, and patiently navigated the long journey from concept to completion. This recognition belongs to them just as much.

A special thank you also to Stuart, whose care, persistence and attention to detail helped carry the project through to the finish line.

Congratulations to everyone whose work has been recognised this year, and thank you to and the Houses Awards jury for the consideration.

‘𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗲’

A tongue-in-cheek name for a house we completed in Scone with upmarket heritage (….tea and scones with jam and cream…is a Devonshire tea…) ~ as the first Mayor’s house back in the late 1800s ~ furnished with details worth preserving and desperately needed new additions.

Completed on a shoe-string budget ~ which meant a lot of heavy-lifting, kind friends lending a hand, and many hours driving back and forth to Sydney.
