The Australian Copyright Council, with assistance from the CBAA, has developed a new Copyright Guide for Community Radio Broadcasters.

Designed specifically for community radio stations, the guide answers common questions about copyright ownership, music licensing, broadcasting, podcasting, online content, images, written works and more.

Whether you're a station manager, presenter, volunteer or content creator, this practical guide can help you better understand your copyright obligations.

The Community Broadcasting Foundation has announced the latest round of grant recipients from this year's first round of applications.

Applications were for a range of purposes including content, development and operations. Keep in mind that while the window for these categories is currently closed that you can still apply for Quick Response Grants in the event of emergencies that threaten transmission.

Some interesting projects/initiatives include:
- CAAMA Radio's Go On To School project encouraging local and remote schools to participate in making radio,

- Tech upgrades and renewals for Noosa FM 101.3 Community Organisation infrastructure,

- Funding for a station manager to help maintain Tasman 97.7 FM at a time where other services are scaling back in the region, with a renewed focus on emergency broadcasting.

Find out more about this year's first round grant recipients at the link below.

This Sunday 21 June is Make Music Day, a celebration of music and the people who create it.

For community broadcasters, that probably sounds like any other day of the year!

Across Australia, community radio stations play a vital role in connecting audiences with music they might not hear elsewhere.

That includes fine music stations, which champion classical, jazz, blues, folk, world music and more.

These stations create opportunities for artists to reach new audiences, support local music communities, and provide access to recording and performance spaces that help musicians develop and share their work.

To celebrate Make Music Day, we'd like to spotlight the fine music stations helping to keep these musical traditions alive and accessible.

Included here are:
- 2MBS Fine Music Sydney (photo by Glenn Hunt/Peter Hislop)
- 3MBS Melbourne 103.5FM
- 4MBS Classic FM
- 5MBS 99.9FM
- ArtSound FM 92.7 (photo by Creswick Collective)

We'd like to give a shoutout to SWR 99.9 FM's Walk-and-Talkers who gather once a month on Sundays in Sydney's west to spend some time out and about at Blacktown Showground.

Locals are invited to come along and get to know some of the team, including Phillip Ackling who let us know about this initiative.

Pictured above is eager walker (and talker!) Matilda at SWR and some of the group out and about on a recent rainy Sunday.
