This exciting project has commenced and we are very pleased to be involved.

Construction of a luxury custom home with underground garage, lift and detached granny flat.

To date, the basement slab and concrete walls have been constructed for the underground garage.

How do we check the thickness of a waterproof membrane without damaging it?

By using an Ultrasonic thickness testing device as seen in this video.

This is a non-destructive test method that we conduct to ensure the waterproof membrane has been applied at the minimum thickness as specified by the manufacturer.

Membranes applied under thickness will often fail.

Steel frame over timber frame?

What is best?

Considering cost, function and performance. Pros and cons are as follows:

Pros - Steel is lighter, more durable and termite proof.

Cons - More expensive than timber frame due to production costs and a greater environmental impact than timber frame also due to manufacturing processes.
