Macquarie University is one of those projects that looks impressive when it’s finished - but the scale, structural elements and craftsmanship behind it tell a very different story.

Zac and Jesse break down what made the project such a standout, from the sheer size of the build to the statement pillar and the award-winning design that demanded serious attention to detail.

Commercial carpentry is about more than putting materials together. It’s about executing the details properly, especially when the finished result is going to be seen by thousands of people.

Some people take time to settle in. Jack took one Friday.

Jack joined Xcel after walking into the site office on a Friday and, by Monday, he had a job to get done. Now, as one of our Supervisors, his role is simple in his words: “nailing the jobs.”

From coordinating teams and keeping the site moving to making sure the carpentry work is delivered properly, Jack knows what needs to happen - and gets it done. 🫡

Xcel have been awarded the Mass timber installation of LAHC Glebe Cowper street development

Once complete the development will consists of two 8 storey buildings and 5 town houses. Which will accommodate 75 new dwellings.
