At a recent Australian Infrastructure Financing Facility for the Pacific Conference, BY Group’s Malcolm Devin and James Widders-Leece presented on how Australia’s Indigenous Procurement Policy (IPP) could inform the development of local procurement policies across the Pacific.

Drawing on BY Group’s experience applying the IPP domestically and delivering projects across the region, the presentation explored how procurement can create opportunities for local businesses, build capability and deliver lasting community benefits.

By sharing practical experience across the Asia-Pacific, we are glad to be contributing to the conversation on more inclusive procurement and locally driven infrastructure development.

In partnership with Hatanga Ltd, BY Group has commenced work on the PVCPS upgrade under the Pacific Police Infrastructure Program (PPIP), an initiative designed to enhance the Vanuatu Police Force’s operational capability to support the local community.

Site progress is well advanced, with ground slabs completed for the main buildings and wall construction reaching 60%. Formwork for suspended slabs is currently underway, and structural steel is scheduled to arrive in-country in the coming weeks.

Finishes and facade packages have been secured and are being loaded into containers, while services shop drawings near completion and key plant and equipment orders proceed.

BY Group was incredibly proud to sponsor the NSW Indigenous Chamber of Commerce (NSWICC) 20th Anniversary Breakfast to celebrate two decades of empowering First Nations businesses!

It was an inspiring event with insightful discussions led by NSWICC CEO Deb Barwick, NSWICC Director Susan Moylan Coombs and the Minister for Aboriginal Affairs & Treaty Hon. David Harris MP.

We gathered at the Sydney Royal Botanic Garden for a smoking ceremony to unveil a dedicated park bench honouring NSWICC’s 20-year legacy.

Congratulations to the entire NSWICC team on this incredible milestone!
