This property was established 12 years ago and is on a steep, narrow block. Ornamental pears and Olive trees have been used to create privacy and define the boundary between neighbouring house. Hedges are used to create rooms. Between the front of the house and a wall were a series of lemon trees in the ground and pots that received very little sun. They were small and bushy but all laden with fruit. The pavers were beautiful and something I would love to have.
Mt Buninyong has a very different climate. It does see snow in winter and has beautiful volcanic soil. Lots of sheltered areas on the five properties we looked at and very obvious on 3 of the properties that extensive landscaping structures had been built. Looking forward to visiting more open gardens this month that reflect drier, open windy landscapes like my own town as much of what I saw today would not be possible for my small property.

Built in 1857 it has very traditional trees as were planted to bring that little bit of England to Australia. Conifers and Redwoods, Cedars and Spruce. Bunya Bunya pines are not something you see in the average gardens these days but if you see one there is no doubt a historical home nearby. The property has more the appearance of a botanical garden and is well hidden on the Midland Highway

This is a beautiful property and only 6 years old. The house is a mix of concrete, steel and timber framed with black window and door surrounds. The deck was built before the seasonal Union Jack Creek had water running through it. Now all the dams above the property are overflowing and the creek is amazing to watch. There is no tap at the back of the house to water so succulents have been chosen. No doubt this property has been enhanced with great landscaping structures that some us dream about having access to.

Avalon Nursery Haddon was my out of lockdown destination with Cathryn Sutton today. Not only did they have a huge range of healthy plants, shrubs and trees but the gardens have lots of places to sit and enjoy a takeaway lunch from the cafe. Well worth a visit.
